After reading a bit more, it's clear what is going on. This is a striker fire mechanism; the firing pin is not driven by a hammer, but by a spring, in-line with the cartridge. This mechanism is used in many weapons, but it does have a couple possible failure points.

If the spring is missing or is the incorrect tension, the striker may ride forward into the breech where the cartridge is at and when a round is loaded, may cause a slam-fire. This is mostly seen in semi-auto rifles or military ones.

The second failure point, and the one that seems to be the most likely here, is a faulty trigger disconnect. This feature is supposed to disconnect the trigger action from the striker assembly to prevent this exact thing from happening. I would gather that it's not working correctly.

Funny side note, up to 1975 some Winchester pump shotguns were designed this way on purpose. Called Trench or Riot guns, they were intended to be used this way to clear areas of hostiles rapidly by simply holding the trigger down and pumping the action as fast as possible. In fact, the model 1897 Trench gun was so feared by the German soldiers in WW1 that Germany threatened severe punishments to any American soldier captured with a shotgun.

As to what caused it, looks like melt water caused lubrication between an extended slanted field of topsoil and a clay base. I live near a beach with a eighty-foot cliff that's quite similar, and in the earliest spring, large chunks of it slide down along that wet clay to pool at the bottom. In this case, the hills are so distant that the pressure became huge enough to completely bulldoze everything in front of it.

I dub it a "slowvalanche".

Also, this thing deforms each spring as it rotates. Some of this movement is turned in to heat, that is a netloss of energy that can be avoided with simple up-down traditional spring system that only generates heat when the body of the vehicle moves in relations with the tires... Not when you are just rolling on a smooth, flat surface.

Nice idea but can only work on small tires, further making the driving experience horrid. Larger tires, up to a point, gives you much less resistance, you can keep rolling forever on them. With this one, you peddle all the time.

I think that at best this would be applicable only to the very lightest of electric vehicles (something in the "motorcycle" weight class, even half a ton is probably too heavy), and I have my doubts about even those, even when completely disregarding the sideways forces.

With a system like this you do not want more than a few cm (about an inch, at a guess) of suspension travel from when the car is lifted in air to the car at rest (= 1G vertical load), just from the weight of the car compressing the springs. If you have more the springs (which the loops naturally are) have to compress a lot with each revolution, which strains them, heats them, isn't good for rolling resistance, etc.

If we assume a 1000 kg car with a 50/50 weight distribution, to get about 2 cm of suspension travel the spring stiffness would be about comparable to a high level GT racing car. Comparing to high level sports cars, the street going Porsche 911 GT3 RS car, which is regarded as a pretty stiff, racy and track oriented vehicle has something in the region of three times that much travel, a normal commuter car can have way over 10 cm due to soft, comfort oriented springs.

So you can't spring a proper car with just these because it'd require it to be too stiff (also I can foresee shock absorption issues). Another problem is the 360 degree springy nature of it. You really don't want car tyres to move much aside from up and down. These have the problem that when you brake, the forces will try to push the axle forwards in relation to the wheel (i.e. the wheel moves backwards while braking), and the reverse when accelerating. You'd be (possibly) drastically changing the wheelbase of the car during acceleration and braking, which could have catastrophic results for handling in extreme situations. Many if not most cars these days are capable of braking at over 1 G, as long as they have decent tyres, so the front-back movement could be bigger than the up-down movement.

So yeah, doesn't really sound like a workable solution as the ONLY spring system on a car. Having some springiness in the tyres (either in the wheel itself of just having larger profile tyres, like we used to back in the day) can be helpful for comfort and even handling in some cases, but springing the car only via the wheels isn't a good idea, you really want to be able to control the wheels better than that.

Raising the national debt more than any president before him-I know fox told you that was Obama, but it was really Bush. Even the first years when federal income was severely depressed (thanks to the economy Bush left us with) he didn't spend like Bush, if you look at the REAL numbers, not the white washed, no war, no homeland security, no bailout numbers the republicans pretend are real.

Because the republicans decided that their plan was to obstruct ANY idea from Obama (clearly stated BEFORE he took office, and followed through), it didn't matter a whit how he led, they refused to follow. It's not about his leadership, it's about the republican leadership thinking that beating Obama is more important than governing. Refusing a 10-1 deal where for every $1 in raised taxes they get $10 in spending cuts....and they said NO! Get real for once, it's not Obama's leadership or lack thereof that's screwing us, it's partisan politics being more important than the nation...and we all know which side plays that game more often and harder. (EDIT: I do admit that both 'sides' play that game, however.)

I gave up on bees after my last hive collapsed, I got foulbrood. That means burning all your hive(s) so you don't re-infect other bees. My bad back means it was getting harder and harder to split the hives and harvest, they're heavy when full of honey and bees so I didn't replace them. This way I could leave them together, never lift anything, and still get honey!
They aren't cheap though. I put my old hives together for about $100 each, $600 is quite a jump for convenience.
I harvested mine with a hot butter knife (no expensive heated electric knife) a cookie sheet, and gravity, so I never had the $4-600 expense of a centrifuge or other harvesting equipment, and never missed a drop. Still, just turning a tap sounds so simple and easy. I still have my suit and smoker, it would be nice to use them and have pollinators for my orchard, but the $.... Decisions decisions.

The December shipping is just right IMO. That gives you time to paint and set them up before spring, the only time of year you can buy bees.
