Turtle Chases Lions From His Waterhole
When I was a kid I picked up a huge snapping turtle....backwards. It chomped into my belly and took a chunk. Those lions are smart to be wary.

Alligator Snapping Turtle vs Common Snapping Turtle
In spite of the dozens of snappers that I've caught while fishing, or encountered while wandering creekbeds, I don't think I'd ever realized that they were alligator snapping turtles. I didn't think they got this far north...but seeing both, side by side, makes it clear that I've never actually gotten a close look at any other kind.
Fascinating video, in my opinion.

OK people.. For starters, if you have never been around a snapping turtle, especially a 25-30 pound snapping turtle, you need to back off with the hate talk as to why I didnt jump right in and "help" him over the fence. This dude had a neck that comes out nearly a foot at lightening fast speed. His head is the size of a baseball.. Dont let the slow moving body fool you. These things can be NASTY as hell when you mess with them. You just dont walk over and pet it, or try to pick it up. The claws on his feet are razor sharp and about an inch long. Those feet are INCREDIBLY strong. My plan was to relocate him to the Mississippi River after work that day so he wouldnt EAT the newly hatched baby ducks and baby geese on the pond in the background. When I came back an hour or so later, he did finally make it over the fence and is now back into the pond. So far, the ducks and geese are fine. All are still accounted for.
He crawled into this fenced in enclosure sometime during the night, I found him the next morning just crawling along the interior of the fence just looking for a way out. I had NO IDEA these critters scaled fences or anything else for that matter. If you notice, the beginning of the video, how far away I am? I wasnt "waiting" for him to climb.. I just saw it in progress and started recording.. I didnt know he was going to fall either, nor did I make him fall. I just thought this was something super crazy so I recorded it for everybody to see. In a matter of 2 weeks, it has been seen nearly 60,000 times on YouTube.
I love animals just as much as anybody else and would never do anything to harm this turtle. So please knock off the "Prick" and the "WTF".. The turtle is very happy where he's at and Im sure will be there a long time..
Thanks,
Todd
welcome to Sift
No need to be defensive about your video. Even though comments might sound harsh, they are not so much comments on you but more for other Sifter's humor.
Right now your video is ranked #17. With a few more votes it'll get bumped to top 15 and then it'll get a lot more exposure. Not many people have the honor/luck of getting up there.

I, for one, wouldn't touch a snapping turtle with a 10 foot pole.
I wouldn't want you touching anything with my penis.
