Sandy Monroe ( you tube) tore down a 2012 and a 2020 model and was astonished at not only in improvements but absolutely astonished in the technology lead of the produce. His group does this and sell reports to all. Evey Asian and Europe atuo manufacture has bought his report. Not 1 American Auto maker has.

I've wondered the same thing, I'm guessing because the guidance system is new? It looks like it's only on the newer version 2. Designed by an accountant most likely because it achieves the efficiency goal of having fewer people to hire and pay to pickup trash. However, it seems that having a more complicated machine would require more people to fix or maintain it.

I remember when I was a kid, the garbage truck had a driver and 2-3 guys that ran ahead to pick up the trash cans and dump it in the truck as it drove slowly down the street. We now have a similar two-man system, but it's not like the one in the video. It has a crane thing in the back, one guy drives the truck and another gets out and pulls the trash cans to the back of the truck for the crane to pick up and dump in.

It seems slower as the truck is constantly stopping and going and it's just one guy dumping one can at a time. I suppose it's safer, and also requires fewer people to pay.

This is why Motorized Vehicles should use the bike lanes, and not the sidewalks and crosswalks. They are too fast and will cause accidents mixed in with slower pedestrian traffic.

While we are at it, might as well do the following:

A job with family-sustaining wages, family and medical leave, vacations, and retirement security (Nice, but you can't just make these jobs available. They are supply and demand.)

High-quality education, including higher education and trade schools (Needed)

High-quality health care (Needed)

Clean air and water (Needed)

Healthy food (Subjective, is meat considered healthy?)

Safe, affordable, adequate housing (because this works, ie Projects...)

Why would they shoot and run?
We have awacs, we would know they are coming, so the only chance to shoot would be at max range.
