Funny videos 2017 funny vines try not to laugh - Part 1

newtboy says...

Yeah, I'm going to call self link,
16 views and 2 downvotes and zero upvoted on youtube, it's not a funny video but a video of people playing with slingshots, the description is a list of tags, and no one but the creator would think this worth reposting.

The poor man's selfie drone

newtboy says...

I did exactly the same thing, but I used my tennis ball slingshot that I would bring for my dog. It carried 3 balls. I saved many a golfer's disk back then.

When i used to play disc golf i put plenty of disc high in the tree tops. A wrist rocket was always something i carried just in case. If you are in the snow im guessing you would also need to carry the projectiles.

Ariel atom on Nurburgring VS Corvette Z06 600HP

spawnflagger says...

I've only seen 1 Atom in person. It sits much lower than it seems from any pictures/video. Surprised it doesn't have paddle shifters.

The Slingshot seems to also be fun, but at an actually affordable price (half the price of a T-Rex even). I'm not sure if it requires a motorcycle license though, since it's titled as such.

Crazy street racing! Peel Kart Race - On Board

Stormsinger says...

It could be, although it's exceedingly difficult to find any meaningful numbers for distances that aren't terribly vague, and what you do find is almost always for something other than karts (semis, F1 racecars and bikes).

I still think that the open, small, only semi-streamlined form of the karts would tend to make the effective distance less than what we saw in most of this video. The lower speeds than F1 cars would tend to improve the slingshot tactic, since the effect of wind resistance increases with the cube of velocity. Which again, doesn't seem to explain the drastic slowdowns when they're not at top speed anyway.

It could be. Wind resistance is why geese fly in formation. They take turns being the lead so the entire flock benefits.

Interesting Way To Launch Fireworks

oritteropo says...

The description from one of the other slingshot rocket launcher vids is:

Launching rockets in Germany requires all kinds of permits and licenses nobody ever gets. But for just 48 hours each year, the rules change. During these two days, every adult person is allowed to blast away with rockets and fire crackers!

The Slingshot Channel MUST take advantage of this once-in-a-year time slot. This time, we built a 2,5 meters high rubber based launch tower, capable of launching an unlit rocket about 50 meters up in the air! Add these 50 meters to the 60-80 meters that the rockets achieve by means of their powder charge, and you get some serious total height.

Of course many things can go wrong. The flimsy wooden shafts are not made to endure the stress of 50 kilogramms (110 lb) of a draw force applied by the rubber bands, and can break right in the barrel of the launcher. Also, if the timing of the fuse is bad and the charge ignites when the nose of the rocket is already pointed downwards, then the rocket will be propelled downwards and explose at ground level - effectively a surface to surface missile.

The Slingshot Channel tests all this... come and see the results!

It seems to be the season for it, people here are still letting off illegal fireworks 24 hours after New Years Eve (and they started several weeks before Christmas!).

That video also explains what's going on, it was his test run during the day:

Submission requested by emailer Nicole.

Since the slingshot yesterday, Juno has gone into Safe Mode due to some kind of unknown problem. Hopefully NASA can get it worked out, otherwise it's quite the bummer.
