Deadbeat Non-Father, forced to pay $30K in Child Support

enoch says...

@scheherazade
bingo!

the courts are a racket.
ideals and principles are all well and good, full of fluffy bunnies and rainbows but the hard facts are that the, ironically named "justice system" ,is simply a money extraction machine.

its business, with little or nothing to do with actual truth or justice.

its a pay to win system.
you have the cash?
well here is your fine and have a nice day.
you're broke?
fuck you...pay me.
no job?
fuck you..pay me.
cant pay?
fine i have a nice little cell where we get a kickback for your time spent and just for a nice, good kick in the balls..we are going to charge you for everything and double it for privileges, because we have a 20 year contract with the local privately owned prison and we guaranteed 90% occupancy.

what did people think was going to happen with all the austerity going around? the roads still need to be maintained.cops need to be paid, schools need to open, water needs to be treated and rich people/corporations sure as fuck dont wanna pay for any of that bullshit..so fuck you poor people!

welcome to the grinding machine that is your local courthouse!

fuck you and have a nice day!

Not sure about how I feel about this newfangled form of advertising.

They're trying to hijack the fact that authentic joy and excitement caught on tape can become popular on Youtube and make millions a little happier for watching it. Instead of just making you happy, however, their goal is to just sell you Jack Links beef jerky.

Don't fall for this and let the greedy corporate bastards corrupt another beautiful form of human expression; punish them by buying a different brand of beef jerky next time you go to the grocery store and watch these videos instead:

DMT Enigma

newtboy says...

It sounded to me like he was saying it's great because, afterwards, you are just so happy you aren't dead of overdose or totally brain dead/fried. That doesn't sound like a good reason to take a drug...to be relieved when the experience is over that you didn't die.
As an aside, plenty of atheists have taken DMT and not suddenly 'found religion'. It's really insultingly ignorant when religious people say 'no one can do "X" and remain an atheist', as if we simply haven't heard about this god thing and just need to hear about it (or trip balls, or see a rainbow, or get a sloppy blowjob from a unicorn) and of course we'll believe.

You know, I laughed about the double rainbow guy. I thought it was weird and pathetic that a grown man, even on drugs, could react that way but now...

I grew up drawing shapes like Parallelograms, and Trapezoids.

A piece of graph paper made me draw squares then, cubes and I've use graph paper to doodle other shapes including this S shape.

I really think he's over thinking it. It's just a random shape with absolutely no meaning.

reactions to the mountain viper fight GoT - spoilers

harlequinn says...

I watched it carefully. His arm moves very fast for a dying man. Keep in mind, I think they set the tone of Oberyn's amazing speed and reaction time when they first introduced him and he nailed that guard's hand to the table. So I would have liked them to persist with that (as in, fast as the Mountain was he would still be too slow)

Being run through with a huge bladed spear twice will inflict massive trauma to a very vascular region, creating immediate blood loss and very quick hypovolaemic shock. I agree that you can keep going until your blood pressure is low enough to knock you down (I was a paramedic - that's bread and butter stuff for me). But he already fell down involuntarily. If he made a massive adrenaline fueled exertion after that I expect to see rainbows of blood coming out of the Mountain (for the viewers pleasure of course) and for you to be slower (you've got blood loss! - which doesn't speed you up).

As I wrote I haven't read the books, so a lot of the nuances will be lost on me (and other unenlighted).

I would have dropped the emotion and instead pushed the cockiness of Oberyn and let that be his downfall (and you could have almost the exact same ending).

I understand in the book the Mountain is like 8 feet tall. This would have helped with the skull popping effect (which is not possible by even the strongest men in our world). And it would have made it look cool with a veritable giant next to Oberyn.

I also don't see how you can describe the mountain as a "super ninja" here. Everything he does at the end is an exercise in brute strength, let's not forget he's wearing mailed fists, the blow to the mouth need not be especially strong or quick to do the damage. All he does after that is roll on top of him with the last bit of strength and rage he has (spurred on by his "beetle crushing" fuck everything mindset). Subsequently crushing the skull has more to do with his upper body weight as his hands alone.

A massive strong man yanks someone's legs out from under them, punches them in the mouth and then climbs on top (while they are stunned) to finish the job.

Being run through doesn't necessarily stop one's muscles from working until the blood loss kicks in. Doubly so with the adrenaline of a life or death fight (and the anaesthetic effect massive trauma has on the nervous system). There are countless stories of soldiers and criminals being mortally wounded by multiple shots to the chest who continued attacking till the blood loss overcame them. Gregor Clegane is exactly the sort of psycho who might exhibit such bloody minded behaviour.

I might also remind you that the Mountain has one more than one occasion been described as "swifter than might be expected for a man of such stature" i.e. not a lumbering hulk. He gets several blows in on Oberyn during the fight. Many of the swings are extremely heavy but they are calculated moves from an expert fighter who is more than capable of moving quickly when needed.

Oberyn is quicker, but the Mountain is not exactly slow (that's one of the reasons why the Mountain is/was formerly undefeated, he's big but can still move relatively quickly for his size).

Milton Friedman puts a young Michael Moore in his place

enoch says...

@RedSky
that is not entirely accurate to state that it was friedmans economic policies that gave rise to chile.

i will agree to an extant that the original groundwork could be attributed to friedman and his economic plans but those plans were not all sunshine and rainbows.it was the chilean government who began to enact and implement solid policies to turn that state around after pinochet.dismantling much of what friedman had started.i.e: private pensions, schools, water etc etc.

and @Yogi does have a point.friedman is quoted often as saying that in times of crisis,it is a perfect opportunity to exploit that crisis in order to implement a policy that otherwise would have been rejected.

now we can argue just how responsible friedmen is in regards to a government who uses/abuses this tactic, but it does not change that fact that friedman was the author of "shock doctrine".

just as in this video, and one of those rare times i agree with friedman.the information should be public and governments only role in business should be that of "fraud police".it comes down to who is responsible.

which brings me to my final point.
economists are the charlatan snake oil salesmen.they consistently get it wrong, almost always.

economies are creations by and for people.
the human element seems to confound these intellectuals.
what plays out brilliantly on paper almost never does in real life..or at least for any protracted period of time.

which is also why i find friedman to be an insufferable cunt.
if there ever was a spark of humanity in that man,i have yet to see it.
