He's not saying "janga janga." He's saying "Pachinko, pachinko" which is a Japanese pinball game.
Elf Needs Food, Bad Ache! (Blog Entry by lucky760)
Haha! Awesome. So I'm not the only one. I don't know why (probably an flashback of my younger years), but while I was watching the new American Gladiators for the first time last night, out of nowhere that narrator's voice just popped into my head. It used to do that all the time when I was younger.
Before my time? No way, no how. I was a big Gauntlet player as a kid. I always looked forward to my dad's bowling night so I could hit the arcade for a few hours.
Another game that I will never forget the audio to is a pinball machine called the Black Knight. Anyone know that one? It had a very catchy song that it played from time to time: "You've got the power. You've got the might. Get ready for battle... Beat the Black Knight!" (It doesn't read as good as it sounds.)

Sorry about the non-reply. I just saw the Harrison tribute video and it reminded me that I needed to let you know that you were indeed living in my head. That DVD has to be one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I wish I could have been there.
Loved your story about "Roundabout." It reminded me of American Bandstand. "I give it a 25 . . . good beat but you can't dance to it." More intriguing was your reference to "Beyond Nature." That happens to be my wife's and my favorite CD. We used to play it every Sunday afternoon. Now, not as much, but whenever we throw it in it brings back a wonderful collection of memories. I think Keaggy is right up there with the most brilliant of guitarists. (And that's saying something).

Silver,
I share the same musical interests. I'm almost embarrassed to admit I named my son, Ian, after Anderson, (although he goes by Charles). He doesn't get recognized for it, but Anderson is one of the true musical greats of this century. His sense of melody and complex rhythm are amazing. And, I think he's probably a decent guy. He actually answered an e-mail I sent him one time!
Keaggy is amazing. I've seen him about 10 times or more. His album "Beyond Nature" is his masterpiece, a true work of art.
I played guitar in rock bands thru the 70s and did a lot of Yes, Tull, and other prog band's music. It was fun to play but the audience we were typically playing for were more interested in dancing. I remember a club manager telling me one time, "what was that last song you played where nobody danced? Was that Pinball Wizard?" I told him, "No, that was Roundabout, by Yes" He says, "whatever it was, don't play that no more."

Cal Bears Band "Video Game" Half-time Show
I once heard a marching band play the Who's "Pinball Wizard," and I thought that marching band music could get no better -- but this has topped it. Awesome.

Tilt: The Battle to Save Pinball (Trailer)
I love pinball and frankly I don't think the prospect of it seeing a comeback someday as all that farfetched.
It's a physical game (albeit with differing "rules" from model to model) like pool and as wazant said, not effectively recreated in video form.
I have several pinball games in my house and when kids come over let me tell you they gravitate to those machines and want to play 'em. It's really funny because it's just something they don't see anymore so they have a real novelty aspect to them.
Yeah, I could see pinball making a comeback...all that is old is new again.

My favourite pinball of all time is the Terminator 2, pinball game. I'm probably a bit biased by my age at the time the movie was released, etc.

I remember, what seems to me, the first time they combined video games and pinball with Baby Pac-Man. And yeah, it wasn't good. The pinball was weak, the video game was basically just Pac-Man.
But still, there's nothing like a really good pinball table. The art, the lights, the gameplay all coming together. The problem is that really good ones are rare, and there's a lot of tables that are just mediocre. I'll always have my college days hanging out at the bar playing Indiana Jones and Bride of Pin-Bot.
