Madagascar: Aye Aye! What a middle finger
I heard Stephen Fry describe these on QI so I knew there middle finger was long. But I had no idea how pencil thin it was. Amazing evolution in action.
Romney answers a question from a gay vet
I will give Romney my vote if he allows me to gouge out his eye with a #2 pencil.
Seriously...he can pick the eye.
Tea Party is the American Taliban
IF they want to spend money on elections? spend it on banning punch-style ballots so we don't have another 2000 Election situation.
I also just don't see the point of electronic voting. It would become a huge target for exploitation. Besides, if you have the scantron-style voting ballots, isn't that electronic enough? take your number 2 pencil and mark your damned ballot and let the scanner read it in. It's as simple as it needs to be.
I just don't see the benefit of having some sort of all electronic system. the more complicated it is, the more easily it can be disrupted.
Or if you MUST have a completely computerized voting system, at the very least, make it a closed system, no wireless, no transmission over the internet. electronic storage of the votes is fine, but if you transmit it over an open system, it's just going to get hacked eventually, There's no reason the results can't be sneaker-netted to where they need to go.

Or you could do the economically sane option of not having these photo Id laws in the first place since they are obviously not needed.

Demanding that citizens pay money to vote is unconstitutional as is stated in the 24th amendment to the constitution.

I never quite got this. Can't these 20 million disenfranchised voters just pay 10 bucks or so to go get a photo ID that would allow them to vote?
So couldn't they put something in place that would allow people to get a free picture ID for voting purposes? Doesn't seem too difficult.
Epic Win Pencil Sharpener - Sharpens Like a Boss!
Not so amazing that a couple of our resident repug lemmings can turn a pencil-sharpening video into anti-government rhetoric. Their ignorance must be all-consuming.

Now there's $1.2 Million dollars of equipment well spent. Must be a Government pencil sharpening contract.
yes, but the government pencil sharpening, formerly done by "lazy" government workers, has been contracted out to a greedy private corporation who now has a monopoly on the trade, patents on both pencils and sharpeners, and is now using part of the government contract funds to produce a pro-pencil ad-campaign.
As a result, pencil sharpening costs, the overall net worth of the politician who contracted out the pencil sharpening (as well as all the attorneys involved), and the value of the pencil company has now significantly increased.
And yet, they are being sued by Apple for using its signature white color design.

But I just wanted some .5 mm for my Mechanical Pencil. Why must fill out 16 forms and show proof of mechanical pencil insurance??
You have to fill out 16 forms because it cost $125k for that graphite.
And you need insurance because people are idiots.

More right-wing spin and misinformation. It's only $1.2M initially. When the point gets dulled, each subsequent sharpening only costs around $125k.

Awesome fountain pen is awesome!
Gotta use expensive paper to write well with those pens too. The cheap stuff bleeds through or catches the pen tip, or rips holes through the paper when you try to make the pen flex and write stylishly.
Gets fairly expensive with the cost of fountain pens, decent ink, and good paper.
I used to use a fountain pen when I was younger and cared more about how my writing looked and was a little bit of a collector of weird pens/mech pencils. Then I got into computers, realized typing was loads easier because you could screw up all you wanted...and the carpal tunnel started, etc etc. Was just easier to use the keyboard versus having the cramping hands from trying to write neatly.
And now my handwriting looks like a little kid or doctor wrote it, and I hate people who hand me a clipboard to fill stuff out. Clipboards have to be pretty close to the most horrible writing surface you can have to write on...they are not natural to hold at all for me.
