Porsche shatters Nurburgring record

SeesThruYou says...

I've logged thousands of laps around Nurburgring in various PC racing simulators over the years, from rFactor to Assetto Corsa, and even if I turn on the arcade mode, I can't begin to touch this lap time. Amazing!!

JURASSIC PARK GAMES With Jeff Goldblum(Honest Game Trailers)

AeroMechanical says...

The first person PC one was actually pretty good. It had some novel and interesting gameplay mechanics, particularly with the player control. Especially for the time it was way more advanced than the standard jump+shoot+move controls.

I am in the lounge and I'm having issues submitting text. I put words in the box and hit enter on pc or in lounge hit send and get nothing. How did you do it? I had the same problem on my Mac. I am weaning off of Apple(Just purchased a Dell) and I am trying to understand Windows 10. Later I plan to be using Linux.

Michelle Wolf at 2018 White House Correspondents' Dinner

cloudballoon says...

Past Correspondents dinner roasts had much more bite than Wolf's and nary got 1/10th of the "controversy."

If I understand the situation correctly, the MOST "divisive" joke Wolf told was the "Smoky Eye" joke. The Right claims it's divisive & disgusting because it's a physical attack on Sanders? What the hell? In what context it's physical? The punchline is all political/fake-news rebuttal, not physical to me. It's not a comment of Sanders' physique/appearance. Wolf's not that cheap. IMO that joke was brilliantly delivered, unique and all hers. Most of the rest are not Wolf's best though. I've seen her jokes that are far more biting, I honestly think she toned it down already for the dinner.

Wolf made fun of her own body ALL THE TIME at Trevor Noah's Show and other comedy venues. That's a sign of self-confidence.

Besides, past Presidents (Dem AND Rep) also got chances to roast many people (themselves, others and a bit of self-loathing too) at these dinners too.

Comedy roasts ARE suppose to be non-PC. Taking the punches well actually humanizes the POTUS.

OCEAN'S 8 - Official Main Trailer

NaMeCaF says...

They're really hammering home the whole SJW PC thing arent they? Not subtle about it at all. Typical preachy hollywood.

Lesbian. Check.
More than 1 black chick. Check.
Asian chick. Check.
Australian. Check.
Brit. Check.
Men who are idiots. Check.

Diversity: The Movie.

I originally thought this was just going to be Oceans 11 with women. But oh no, they had to go full-retard. You never go full-retard.

Bug Cry 5: Far Cry 5 is full of surprises.

CrushBug says...

Far Cry 5 has some bugs. Most are hilarious because they involve the physics engine. That is what makes the game so charming in spots. Some bugs interfere with game play, but Restart From Last Checkpoint is your magical fix. Stuck in an object? You can Fast Travel and that solves it.

The 2 hands thing happens when you futz with your FOV and screen draw settings on PC.

The game is a blast. Companions are great and have things to say. Game play is great, and, I can't believe I am going to say this, but the fishing mini game is fun.

Totally worth the money I spent on it.

Kayaking waterfalls in 360 video with Rafa Ortiz.

newtboy says...

Me too. When I posted it, the kindle wasn't recognizing it as 360, so it stretched and warped the whole image in an awesome, trippy way. I rewatched on my pc, and it wasn't nearly as good, and really hard to see what's happening. Disappointing.
They had a short version on rightthisminute.com without 360 that was neat, but they jabber over it annoyingly.

Actually for me the only way to see it properly imo is to pause at every edit to first find the proper angle. Then to follow the action. If you don't pause it you miss the action generally.

John Oliver - Parkland School Shooting

MilkmanDan says...

Good points.

I'm not a gun nutadvocate, but I have friends who are. I have shot a fairly wide range of guns with them, including an AR-15. For myself, I only ever owned BB guns and a .22 pellet air rifle, for target shooting and varmint control on my family farm. I did go pheasant hunting with borrowed 20 and 12 gauge shotguns a couple times.

My friend that owns the AR-15 is a responsible gun owner. Do I think he needs it? Hell no. But he likes it. Do I need a PC with an i7 processor and nVidia 1060 GPU? Hell no. But I like it.

So I guess it becomes a question of to what extent the things that we like can be used for negative purposes. My nVidia 1060 is unlikely to be used to facilitate a crime (unless games or bitcoin mining get criminalized). However, even though AR-15s might be one of the primary firearms of choice for murderous wackos, the percentage of people that own AR-15's who are murderous wackos is also extremely low.

If banning AR-15s would significantly reduce the rate of mass shootings and/or the average number of deaths per incident, it could be well worth doing even though it would annoy many responsible owners like my friend. ...But, I just don't think that would be the case. Not by itself.

I think we're at a point where we NEED to do something. If the something that we decide to do is to ban AR-15s, well, so be it I guess. But I don't think we'd be pleased with the long-term results of that. It'd be cutting the flower off of the top of the weed. We need to dig deeper, and I think that registration and licensing are sane ways to attempt to do that.

criticalthud said:

In 1934 the Thompson submachine gun was banned partly because of it's image and connection to Gansters and gangster lifestyle.
In the same way the AR-15 has an image and connection to a different lifestyle: that of the special ops badass chuck norris/arnold/navy seal killing machine. then they join a militia, all sporting these military weapons. there's a fuckin LOOK to it. a feel, a code, an expectation there. It's socialized into us.

That image is big fuckin factor in just how attractive that particular weapon is to a delusional teenager.

Ladies.. here is why 99% of Guys don't approach you..

newtboy says...

Lol.
I'm lucky enough to have found an actual woman to put up with me long before the pc movement started. I was thinking of what single men are going through in today's climate, and how most people I know met under circumstances that, today, would be dangerously close to sexual harassment or abuse of power accusations of late.

I'll still take that sexbot if you're offering, though. Only way I'll ever have a 3way.

Jinx said:

Aight. You can have your sexbot. I'll continue to risk it with actual women.

I gathered from his comments that, because he objected to pc thugism, he got mislabeled far right. I would guess the reverse is true to an extent.
I wasn't sure if she wasn't listening, or just not comprehending, or both. There was definitely a failure to communicate by both.

dr peterson is a professor of psychology at university of toronto, and former harvard professor.

i like him but often disagree with some of his criticisms, but he does source all his claims on his website and his books.

though his book "maps of meaning" is a bit of a slog.

one thing i admire about peterson is his careful use of words, which is where the interviewer was getting tripped up.

she was not really listening, and was instead reacting based on assumptions, rather than his actual words.which is why she kept with the "so what you're saying.."

the extreme left has labeled peterson an "alt-right" demagogue and a "transphobe" but both of these allegations are patently ridiculous with even a tertiary examination of what peterson is saying.

you don't have to agree with him,but as this interviewer found out, presume at your own risk.

he will may you pay for your presumptions and arrogance.

i find both dr peterson and dr haidt invaluable in understanding the psychology of human societies.peterson is an evolutionary psychologist while haidt focuses on moral psychology.

but what do i know..i am just a ghetto white trash kid from the burbs.
still interesting.

Keanu Reeves Tactical 3 gun shooting

NaMeCaF says...

Bullshit. I personally didnt find any of those women attractive, let alone "super attractive". Just admit you're bringing your own biases and messed up connotations to a simple video of Keanu training for an upcoming film with the members of Taran tactical. Get off your high horse and just accept you were wrong.

This PC witch hunt nonsense is getting over the top.

bareboards2 said:

Sorry. You're right. I shouldn't have laid it all on Keanu.

It is just creepy.

They are employees of a business. Who hired them? Where are the normal looking women?

This is Hooters, only with guns and not hamburgers and beer. Or whatever they sell there.

Would there be any normal looking women, when the intent is obviously to draw male eyes to this business?

Do you realize that you are being pandered to, you folks who are making fun of my "outrage"? Do you know you are being manipulated? Do you understand that it is super creepy if you don't know you are being manipulated?

There is a great new movement right now of women speaking up and making clear that they are intelligent and have loads to offer other than beauty. It was super thrilling to watch the Golden Globes and hear all these amazing and brilliant women talk so eloquently about something other than who made their dress.

To go from that to this parade of nubile flesh as a backdrop to gun skills .... creeped me out. It isn't real. It isn't what the world looks like. It is manufactured and disturbing when I personally am hungry for images of women DOING and being, instead of being looked at.

There are women out there who love guns and are knowledgeable about guns. And they don't all look like this.

You know I adore you completely, Chaos. And I wasn't accurate in my original post. Thank you for calling that to my attention.

But it isn't true that only you brought "common sense and facts" into this. I brought the common sense and facts, too. Just not eloquently or accurately. Being talked about like that, being reduced to "outrage" instead of being accorded some respect for noticing the unnatural assemblage of super attractive women obviously being used to as eye bait... well, that is common. Very common. And uncool.

You, though, dear friend, are super cool.

The Twelfth Doctor Regenerates (Jodie Whittaker)

ChaosEngine says...

Plenty of people talked about it when it was announced a few months ago. The conversation was not interesting in general (waaaah, why is the doctor a woman? Fucking pc SJWs ruining everything) and so on...

Magicpants said:

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. I hope they take the opportunity to change the tone of the show a bit. I really like Peter Capaldi but half his episodes were just badly written.

Cop Who Shot Walter Scott Pleads Guilty, Gets 20 Years

Mordhaus says...

He will likely still be in PC lockup, cops don't fare well in prison.

newtboy said:

It's only not murder because plea deals usually involve lesser charges that a conviction could.
The DA was going to try him again for murder and murder 2, but accepted this deal with the feds to avoid another possibly hung jury or even acquittal. That's how plea deals work.
I found it amazing he willingly took a 20 year sentence considering how cops usually fare in courts, I only wish it was in State prison gen pop instead of club fed's special unit.

I fully agree that the expectations for justice against bad cops are depressingly low, and I agree this outcome was far better than the average yet still not fully justice.
