Prove Apple wrong about data recovery and get banned

SeesThruYou says...

Wow, that's just ridiculous what Apple is doing. I have to go through Apple sometimes to deal with issues regarding our corporate iPhone fleet, which I administer, and the term "Apple Support" is mostly a joke. I hate working with them.

The Brilliant Earth Diamond Scam

SeesThruYou says...

True. It's the diamond cartels (actually it may just be one now) that control how many diamonds are allowed onto the market each year, which is the only thing that keeps them valuable. There are diamond mines in the world that actually produced so many uncut diamonds, that they piled them up on the floor of the mine and then sealed the entrances with concrete, putting local miners out of work.

And diamonds...are not that rare.
It's a marketing hoax their value.

So it is really double irony.

Hitting the Sun is HARD

I thought the context of the title meant "hard" as in "a solid, unyeilding surface", rather than "difficult". Was expecting something a bit more interesting, although this was still... enlightening.

Indestructible Coating?

SeesThruYou says...

Not so much a "coating" as it is a shell, or even a container of sorts, around the watermelon. It's like a half-inch thick or more, so, for me at least, it's not as impressive as first implied by the title.

Doodling in Math: Spirals, Fibonacci, and Being a Plant

SeesThruYou says...

Now I remember why I didn't like math in high school... BOOOOORRRRRING. Maybe if she had slipped an "arrow to the knee" joke in there somewhere, I would have stayed interested. This video reminds me of math in high school and how every time I'd reach the answer to a long and complicated algebra equation, my response would be... "Uh, so what?" The answer is X=19. So what? Big fucking deal. I've never understood how to people find that interesting.

So here I am, watching this video and she shows us all these spirals in flowers and how they all coincide with the Fibbobotchy numbers, or whatever... and in the end, I still have to ask, "So what?" There are spirals in flowers. Ooooh. Big whoop. Sounds like just the sort of thing the government likes to spend hundreds of millions of "research" dollars to find out. I'm sure this amazing find will save the lives of dozens of imaginary people somewhere in the back of this girl's mind.
