Taking just about any supplement just for the sake of it, is pretty much like eating lollies, except they aren't tasty, and can have side effects. It's not really that calcium supplements are the main problem, it's that people are gullible.

What are the best things one can do for bone health?

1. weight bearing exercise (bones respond and become stronger)
2. vege's - especially leafy green vege's
3. vit d - get some sunlight most days

and... avoid smoking.

Maybe it's just my own naivete, but I would love to imagine that there was a time when being arrested was a little more formal than just having some cop blindside you like they did Eric Garner. Like maybe the cop actually told you you were under arrest, and gave you a chance to submit to the authority that he represented (NOT embodied) and maybe even mentioned what putative offense you might be arrested for, and had some rationale for it that the supreme court might recognize.

Even if that time never existed, it might arrive some day if enough cops exercising their fascistic discretion have their feet held to the fire of public scrutiny.

The police were called in when a local rent a cop complained that he was supposedly sitting in a private "Employees Only" area and refused to leave. They dropped the charges only when several witnesses confirmed that Chris Lollie (our victim) was not in any such area and that the security guard was full of shit.

We've had a natural brand of lollies here in Aus for a while, they are pretty good, they don't use organic ingredients though so it's awesome to hear about those being used. @gorillaman some preservatives are pretty nasty (e.g. the nitrates used to preserve many meat products), and there is plenty of legitimate science looking at GMO foods, this article looks in detail at many of the safety issues if you're interested:

Plus there's the fact many GMO crops have substantial roundup residue, certainly not something I would want to eat too much of. Lastly, there is the issue of cross-contamination, once that happens there is no turning back, and the proof many GMO crops are safe is rather thin on the ground (the safety studies are generally very poorly designed and implemented).

My only comment on the ingredients of the lollies would be that agave is not a good sugar substitute or sweetener - it's often sold in health food stores as such, however it's extremely high in fructose, so much so that it's essentially HFCS on steroids.

No, low carb, high fat diets are not a fad - they actually have some decent evidence to support them.

Overall I would say that while carbs can be a bad thing, especially foods high in simple sugars, the biggest issue is the poor quality of the food the carbs are often coming with. Macka's, KFC and the large amount of easily available packaged (highly processed) food are mostly to blame for globesity. I cringe when people talk about how awesome it is to try eating Cap'n Crunch or another random, similar breakfast cereal for all meals of the day - you just have to look at the side of the pack to see that you are basically just eating a bag of lollies, not exactly the path to good health.
