i would love to create a congrats post but lack certain skillz in making one even remotely appealling i.e:photoshop savvy.
rasch, krono and so many others do such an amazing job and i guess i was complacent in even attempting my inept hackery and indirectly passed off the responsibility onto others.

great..thanks sarzy!
now i am feeling awkward and ashamed of myself...

Midterm mania: I voted today...so much for that (Politics Talk Post)

Crosswords says...

I feel your pain Krono, I live in Texas and any of my votes outside of my district are pretty much for naught. I highly suspect come 2012 there'll be another reversal once people see these tea-party libertarians they elected are really ultra bat-shit conservatives who'll push for higher defense spending, gay burning, and required jesus.

Six New Orleans Cops Charged In Murder Of Hurricane Victims

enoch says...

props to you krono...right on brother.

i don't see what all the fuss is about.this is pretty cut and dry.
these cops murdered and then attempted to cover it up by abusing the trust given them by the people.so what we have here is much more than a mass execution but also a conspiracy to cover it up by way of betrayal.
so yeah..fuck these animals who called themselves "police".

does this mean by my statement that every cop is alike and that they all behave and participate in mass slaughter?of course not,it is those elements that betray the public trust that we see in these videos and they are a minority.

what we are REALLY talking about here is justice.
because too many times we hear the phrase "the department will be conducting an internal investigation" and we all smirk knowingly..because we know what that means..it means squat for the victim.
here..thanks to videotape and a few honest police officers unwilling to cover up MURDER..we see justice.

my only problem with the police is where do they draw the line?
when do they stop serving and protecting the people and begin to be the strong arm of the state and become the oppressors of the people?
at what point does their moral compass start to jitter and they refuse to obey an "order" to..lets say..shoot tear gas at civilians? beat them with batons?shoot rubber bullets in someones face?kick a cyclist off his bike and break his back?
when is it ever OK to break a mans jaw and knock his teeth out for not "obeying a lawlful order"?

because here is the truth of the matter.
they took an oath.
they were entrusted with authority.
to protect and serve NOT the corporate agenda,NOT the whims of the senate nor congress but the PEOPLE.
and when they break that oath they should be brought to justice.
because thats what we are talking about...justice.

Chuck Norris' Inner Monologue: "Oh My God, Ninjas!"

You have the Right to Remain Silent, Not. (Wtf Talk Post)

dystopianfuturetoday says...

>> ^blankfist:

true! But you seem to welcome a solid statism that emboldens this kind of shit. Why is that? I understand that being part of a union in the US typically warrants a desire for government involvement, but it's the dwindling of our rights, freedoms and liberty that makes me question why any of us would honor a system of government that puts such atrocious tyranny upon our shoulders.

Your problem is that you can't differentiate the good from the bad when it comes to government. When you lump health care and teachers right in there with the patriot act and the Iraq war and then call it "statism", it makes your point of view seem simplistic, inflexible, insecure, partisan and very petty. I know the term was designed to be used as a scary political epithet, but though over use it's become a word of levity on this site. You've even got gwiz using it as a neutral term in this thread.

If you want to influence people, you need to understand them a bit, have some empathy and know where they're coming from. You can't just say 'Hey kronos, why are you such a tyrannical, union loving, fascist? Why do you reject the pure love, light and liberty of my political perspective?" That kind of rhetoric is really no different from your 'with us or against us' George Bushisms; just as insular and narrow minded, though grammatically far superior.

Part of the problem lies in the word 'libertarian' itself. Liberty means many things to many people, and when you use that term to define your own subjective political ideology, you've left the realm of political discourse and entered the realm of religious dogma.

How would you feel if I claimed that progressivism were the true ideology of freedom and liberty, and that by opposing me you also oppose liberty and freedom? Would that influence you? Would that make you want to join me? Or would you think I was just deluding myself by invoking a beloved term as a shield to hide my own selfish beliefs and desires behind?

For argument's sake, what if I could convince you that your concept of liberty was subjective? Would that change your thinking? Would it make your ideology less meaningful? I'd love an answer to that last question.

Baby is astonished & excited about pop-rocks!

Remember the Sabbath

IronDwarf says...

Yes, I can see the stupidity in it; my beef was with the mean-spiritedness of the video. The fact that the Jews do this has no affect on me or anyone else, so why bother to attack such a small aspect of their religion (which not all of them follow anyway)? Is it just to nitpick and cry out "LOL JEWS!"?

>> ^GenjiKilpatrick:

Whoa. Wow. Omg. Is that you Sherlock?!?!
Like Kronos and Sketch said.
The video mocks the stupidity/absurdity of this particular belief to show the stupidity/absurdity of the rest of their beliefs.
You seriously don't see the troubled delusional logic of designing an oven that overrides a SAFETY feature only because you're afraid of offending an imaginary divinity?!

Jews choosing not to do anything on the Sabbath isn't actually creating problems in the world. I don't see the point of this video, other than to make fun.

Obama Burned In Effigy

Thunderf00t: BURN MUHAMMAD BURN!!!!

spoco2 says...

Yeah, no, I got that, I was just noting during the video that he was probably trying to employ the tactic of making a fool of the enemy to diffuse their power, rather than shooting back more hateful words.

And I do absolutely agree that the vid far too easily lumps all Muslims into the same basket as the nutjobs who are depicted in it, and I do disagree with that.

I disagree with the video for the most part, hence I haven't upvoted it.

But I do also disagree with organized religion as a whole anyway... although not people's right to follow whatever beliefs they chose AS LONG AS THEY DON'T HARM OR PREJUDICE OTHER BECAUSE OF THEM.

>> ^dannym3141:

>> ^spoco2:
However, there is also something to be said for making your enemies a laughing stock for reducing the fear they can inflict. Once you're laughing at your enemy they seem a lot less threatening.

The point kronos was trying to make which seemed to not quite land home with you - muslims aren't our enemies. SOME muslims are, not all. He's making a laughing stock of them all, and that's as bad as they are.
I agree with kronos on this one. As violent as he THINKS islam may be, christianity has done the same. Yet we have millions upon millions of people practising christianity without the violence, it's been edited out of the religion. Who is to say that's not the same way average muslims behave?
They have their nutcases who take everything literally and want to see terrible things happen and are willing to take steps to see it happen. And so do muslims.
(Do you c wot i did thar?)
Edit:
BTW bicycle dude above me - it may be obvious to YOU that he means those people, but it isn't "obvious". And you shouldn't let things like that rely on intuition, because you're trying to make a statement and reduce the ignorance.
