Coconut Demons aren't all they seem...

robbersdog49 says...

An interesting thought, but what have they learned here? Have they learned that if someone pours water out of an empty jug they may be faking it, or have they learned that miracles can be faked? If it's the latter then they have learned something useful and will question every holy miracle they see. I hope that the people doing this are good enough to explain this.

Jennifer Aniston's Sex Tape

I don't know if the bottled water industry isn't more bullshitty in the US. Here, I don't know of a single brand of bottled water (at least of the famous ones) where the water isn't collected at the spring, and instead in the middle of a city from a tap.

edit: of course I don't mean those stupidly expensive water brands. I buy water by the 5 liter jug, and costs less than 1€.

>> ^notarobot:

Bottled water is no better than what comes through your faucet. The plastic bottle it comes in ends up downstream in your food supply. No matter how fun or witty the advertising is, bottled water is bullshit.

Sarah Palin's "You-Bettcha" attitude SHUT DOWN by Alaskan

quantumushroom says...

And while Palin was governor what were the liberal vermin there doing? Why, filing spurious lawsuit after lawsuit against her, all of which were dismissed (but you know, those lawyers still want to get paid).

You can really feel the heartbreak from the union rep government school teacher over Palin letting her down. Oscar-winning performance. Speaking of celebrities who know nothing about politics, has this woman ever heard of obama? Is the problem obscene money-for-nothing celebrities? How much does Filth Clinton make a year giving speeches?

Will jumping Palin's shit distract attention from the jug-eared goofus in the White House, the worthless congress and massive failure that is obamanomics? Find out November 2nd!

How to win AND fail at pouring petrol onto a bonfire

ReverendTed says...

>> ^DonanFear:

You people (and the guy in the video) have been watching too many movies.
Gas cans/tanks don't explode unless you put explosives inside, most of the time they don't even want to burn because gas needs oxygen to burn. Even if the can is almost empty it's mostly fumes inside and what little air is there is used up pretty quickly and nothing happens, it's when they panic and they start pouring the stuff all over the place that it gets dangerous.
Yup.

I'll admit, though, even knowing for a fact that the best course of action (short of not getting into that situation in the first place, obviously) is to just set the canister down and feel stupid as it smolders (and hopefully seals itself off as the plastic nozzle melts), something tells me my instincts wouldn't let me be so calm and level-headed while holding a flaming jug of gasoline.

Expensive Bottled Water Trend

Sniper007 says...

Right Sheppard, we buy filtered water by the 5 gallon jug because we don't care to drink fluoride or chlorine. It actually causes health issues for my family. But this isn't that. This is beyond...

Pulse Jet Combustion

srd says...

I don't think it's about (re)introducing oxygen into the system, but stirring up the fuel/air mixture. If most of the vapors are sitting at the bottom of the jug or don't quite reach the top you're going to have a hard time igniting.

The flame at the top should be burning oxygen from the surrounding air, while getting fuel vapors from the jug which are being pushed up by the heat of the bottom flame sheet (if the mix was too rich in the jug the existing oxygen wouldn't be enough to burn all the fuel). So like a candle with an air wick.

How Lego is made. inside factory tour

RadHazG says...

Except that generally speaking, Legos aren't something that gets thrown out. Most get passed on to kids or grandkids, a Lego is a Lego, its never going to get obsolete.
Not only that, but Lego is great for building imagination in kids, or even adults. There are many things that are plastic or some other "harmful" substance that are actually useful and put to fair use in their considerable lifetime. If there were tons of Lego filling the bulk of our landfills it might be an issue, but I seriously doubt that. Some of them do get tossed undoubtedly but not nearly enough to be concerned with. Bark at milk jugs if you want something a little more concerning.

WTF Canada... Milk in bags??

Mashiki says...

>> ^arvana:
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Homo Milk yet -- that is far more WTF to me than bag milk. And yes, there is Homo Bag Milk...

I don't know why you'd say that, homo is shorted for homogenized(aka the shit tastes like water). Most places just don't call it that. Personally I'm a 3-4% mf drinker that likes non-homogenized milk, but I grew up on a farm. In Ontario, where we have more cows than people.

What I can buy at my local grocer, 3L containers don't exist either. 1L to 4L jugs. Bags 1-4L, homo/non. Cartons 1-4L, can't buy actual whipping cream so I have to make my own. 0.25-0.5L speciality types for cooking. And I live in a city with a population under 50,000. What I would like to buy at the store is milk in glass containers. Over in Kitchener/Waterloo and a few other places, theres a couple of companies that still do daily milk delivery in glass containers. I have to say, nothing quite like getting it every day in your milk box. And I have one of those too!

WTF Canada... Milk in bags??

ghark says...

>> ^ipfreely:
Why do you need to use the bag? Why not just pour the milk into the jug? Does the plastic bag some how keeps it fresh?

I was expecting her to just pour it into the jug too, would seem logical. I guess it would save you from having to wash the jug afterwards is all.

WTF Canada... Milk in bags??

xxovercastxx says...

I'd be interested to hear the justifications for her justifications of putting milk in a bag.

So, yes, you can recycle the plastic bags. You can also recycle plastic jugs and paper cartons. You can even grow more paper cartons and your milk doesn't taste like plastic. I don't know about the bags, but the plastic jugs can produce some funky flavored milk.

How are bags easier to ship than cartons? Cartons would seem to be more resilient and that nice boxy shape they have makes them easy to pack and stack.

WTF Canada... Milk in bags??

Sagemind says...

We used to have the bags in Western Canada - but I haven't seen them in years. They might be there but I buy milk in 4 litre plastic jugs!

And now without further ado - Here's Raigen...

>> ^Raigen:
I actually made one of these years and years ago for my American friends. One of them ended up putting it on YouTube. It's pretty much the second thing that pops up from a search for "Milk in a bag".
