Drifting a Top Fuel dragster

No, I agree @newtboy, no one likes a mouth full of hair. I prefer to only floss twice a day!!

I have been with both women and men where there is so much of it you almost need a weed whacker to find the goods. I have heard women say they feel like a pre-pubescent girl when it is all gone. I prefer a happy medium, or as us ladies put it, shave the undercarriage and trim the hood. If I had any musical talent at all, I could write my own rebuttal song!

It is interesting that you brought up guys who manscape...I never thought about it making them look like pre-pubescent boys. Most gents I know who do say it makes the "package" look bigger. I think balls just look better without hair, but that is just my opinion, since I find them such a weird and intriguing part of the male anatomy.

To each their own, but keep in mind, no one enjoys a mouth full of hair.

EDIT: I do wish to say, about the 'looks like an 8 year old' thing, and I only mention it because I have heard some women say that men who like a clean shave are pedophiles....most men have not seen many pre-pubescent naked vaginas, so the implication by some that they want their women to look like little girls is misguided. I wonder, do they think the same thing about men who shave their balls and the women who like that?

Democrats Divided on Hillary and Bernie: A Closer Look

RFlagg says...

In the end she needs Sanders' supporters. Her job as a leader, is to reach out to Sanders and his supporters and get them behind her. I still think she and the DNC need to give him the primary Prime Time spot during the convention, and they need to give other members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus a large percentage of the time during the convention. That move, along with a good progressive VP candidate (I think Dennis Kucinich for reasons I've detailed before) would go a long way to helping secure the nomination. And as pointed out by @newtboy, her supporters in '08 were Democrats, so it isn't nearly the same story as what Sanders is doing now. The Democrats will continue to vote for her, it is the independents that you need to turn out and vote against Trump. Trump is doing better than expected at getting the Republicans behind him, and their hatred of Clinton can't be understated. Not to mention of course fears of indictment and other issues ahead of Clinton, such as the likely hood the Republicans would try to impeach her first thing... even if they don't impeach her, they'll stonewall congress like they have against Obama anyhow. They need to get the independents out to vote against the Republicans and have a Senate change as well, and I don't see them really working to that end yet, which mystifies me to no end.

Oregon Cop Kicks Biker in Chest

newtboy says...

I especially liked the repeating "clearly did not violate established procedures or tactics" part, but no indication that they understand that all that means is the established procedures and/or tactics need to be changed so they know they can't kick people who have surrendered and complied. It sounds a lot like they didn't learn anything and will be paying out more, and larger settlements in the future until the amount is large enough to wake them up.

I also liked the "Edwards acknowledged in his testimony that Wilkens had begun to comply with his commands when he landed the kick, but said he was unable to stop the kick because he “already had the muscles fired” in his right leg." part, like he still doesn't know there's video of him taking 2 steps forward then kicking all while the motorcyclist is going down to his knees. Just so much fail.

EDIT: Oh, I missed the brake fade part. I notice the hood dip, then rebound as he hits, then quickly lets off the brake, accelerates slightly, and turns right into the bike to ram it. Brake fade might let him roll forward slowly, it would not let the front of the car raise up like the brakes were released and accelerator hit, and would not turn the wheel in the direction of the biker. That wasn't brake fade, no way, it was an intentional ramming. I'm a bit surprised that wasn't brought up in court.

Wilkens was awarded more than $180,000 in total damages.

Jurors additionally determined that Edwards acted with negligence when his police car rear-ended Wilkens’ motorcycle, but ruled that the veteran state trooper did not violate Wilkens’ rights by pointing a gun at him and using force to handcuff and then pull Wilkens to his feet.

Wilkens suffered a broken left clavicle, a fractured rib and other injuries in the Aug. 3, 2012, incident.

Some other nice bits in the article, the officer was driving an unmarked chevy camaro, was unaware that it was equipped with a dash cam, and blamed the rear ending of the bike on 'brake fade' (which a brake expert testified was rare in modern brake systems).

It's a fun read, also the cop was later promoted to captain.

Woman Accuses White Male of Stealing Her Cultural Hairstyle

TheFreak says...

It's also worth noting that dreads have been a part of pot culture for at least 3 decades now. That's long enough that you can't actually deny it's a valid expression of that culture.

The mistake she's making is to assume that dreads are exclusive to black culture. As is pointed out in the video, the hair style has existed since recorded time. In fact, it's more accurate to say it represents carribean culture, so unless she was raised in that particular region, she would also be guilty of cultural appropriation of she wore dreads.

The bottom line is, no one can define someone else's culture or decide whose culture is valid. Cultures are fluid and evolving and cannot be constricted by anyone not immersed in that culture.

Oh wait! I meant to say, she's wearing a hooded windbreaker. She's clearly appropriating my eastern Anglo American culture.

Cougar released from trap

transmorpher says...

Pretty much every douchebag that sells fur to the modern jackets people wear.
That's for the ones that have the bit of fur along the hood and shoulders.

The ones with more fur are made by skinning a mink alive.

Also F**K hunters.

newtboy said:

What kind of douchebag still uses that kind of foot breaking trap? I think they should have one attached to each limb and be left pinned to the ground somewhere they won't be found, like they do to random animals.
Hunting is one thing, indiscriminate trapping like this is nothing more than random hard core animal abuse by lazy or terrible people.

Science to the rescue; this is how you rehab a broken back

Looking at the water temps for N Cali, it's about 10 degress C (or ~50f) in winter?

That's cold, but not unmanageable. Get yourself a good semi-dry wetsuit (including booties, gloves and hood), pair it with some merino thermals and you'd be sweet as.

newtboy said:

Thanks, that's nice of you to say.
Unfortunately, snorkeling up here means subjecting myself to hypothermia, so it probably won't happen much. There will be some while I set up my pond, but I doubt that will be as therapeutic as warm Hawaii waters. Maybe I should move!

Military will refuse to obey unlawful orders from Pres Trump

newtboy says...

As I see it, there were only prosecutions from Abu Ghraib because the abuse became public knowledge.

While rape and murder have never been proven to be executive orders (although it's pretty clear that murder in the field has been ordered by many presidents, including the current one, but is called something different), they were certainly standard procedure. That's why the offenders felt safe publicly posting pictures of the crimes. Had they been a tiny bit smarter about it, there almost certainly would have never been a prosecution, because that would make the crimes public and keeping the abuse secret was far more important than addressing the crimes.
Most of what we saw from Abu Ghraib was clearly, and admittedly sanctioned by the president and his cabinet. as you said, there was.."sleep deprivation, hooding prisoners, playing loud music, removing all detainees' clothing, forcing them to stand in so-called "stress positions", and the use of dogs" and also waterboarding and other acts designed to inflict the feeling of being murdered. From there to actual 'rape and murder' is just a tiny step over that invisible line that the executive branch had taken them right up to and complained about being stymied by.
They may not have been directly directed to rape and murder, but they were presented with people they were told to treat as subhuman and directed to do more to get the information that 'legal' torture had not delivered. I'm not sure what else they might have done in that situation.

bcglorf said:

I hadn't thought I was ever disagreeing on Bush and Cheney and company approving war crimes in the form of torture(in particular stress positions and later on water boarding). They were shockingly open about it and basically just defended it by saying they didn't think it was that bad...

When you posed Abu Ghraib as an example of military following illegal orders though, I disagreed. You know, based upon the fact that the acts of sexual assualt, physical assault, rape and murder were counted as crimes by the military. This standing apart from 'lesser' torture like loud music and stress positions which was 'ok'.

If you want to be taken seriously stick to the truth. Trying to run out hyperbole like you were by alluding to rape and murder being an executive order and standard procedure does you no credit. Trotting out Abu Ghraib is even worse as it disproves your hyperbole, what with the military discharging and putting on trial those involved and all.

Military will refuse to obey unlawful orders from Pres Trump

bcglorf says...

Citation needed by something more than "wikipedia".

The details matter in something like this. The orders from the top included the following abuses: "sleep deprivation, hooding prisoners, playing loud music, removing all detainees' clothing, forcing them to stand in so-called "stress positions", and the use of dogs"

Sexual assault, rape and murder didn't make the list somehow.

"The administration of George W. Bush attempted to portray the abuses as isolated incidents, not indicative of general U.S. policy. This was contradicted by humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch. After multiple investigations, these organizations stated that the abuses at Abu Ghraib were not isolated incidents, but were part of a wider pattern of torture and brutal treatment at American overseas detention centers, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo Bay. There was evidence that authorization for the torture had come from high up in the military hierarchy, with allegations being made that Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld had authorized some of the actions." - Wikipedia

Covering up 100 Years of Canadian Beauty

Ashenkase says...

Scarfs are for people from Toronto and Vancouver who really have no f*#king clue how to dress for Winter. A good lined hood and a touque will do just fine, and if it dips below -30c haul out the dickie.

One can easily survive almost any Southern Canadian Winter (the majority of our population lives within 100km of the US border) with a coat like this:

Strange engine swap gives 1970 Roadrunner a Detroit Diesel

oritteropo says...

Now I'm not 100% sure here, but I get the impression that 0-60 times weren't a major consideration in this engine swap. He sourced everything out of a junkyard he runs and built the car for next to nothing.

I did like the idea, from the comments, of chroming the part of the engine above the hood to make it look like a big blower

newtboy said:

Nice job, but what's the 0-60 now? Can it spin the tires? I get that it's now a torque monster that can go anywhere, but 100hp won't get you there very fast.

It's OK, we have a big truck and we can get you out...

poolcleaner says...

I was completely screwed over by a tow truck driver in California. Car was on its side but still in working order, but instead of turning it back onto its wheels, they dropped it on the hood, dragged it to its death along the pavement and onto the back of the truck, then claimed it was totaled.

CrushBug said:

Don't think this is a Russian only problem. I have seen and heard of plenty of stupid towing stuff here in North America.

You have to attach to the main frame, and nothing else. Not bumpers, not axles, not nose/tail sub-frames. The pros can wheel tow because they have the right equipment and know what they are doing.

My aunt almost had her bumper ripped off when someone tried to pull her out of a snow bank. Another person stopped and checked what they had attached to and told them to move it to the frame.

There is also that classic video of the guy getting his entire rear bumper and trunk ripped off his Cavalier when not only did they attach it wrong, the had slack in the tow cable and just gunned it.

Pro-lifers not so pro-life after all?

bobknight33 says...

Guns and PPH kill more blacks than any other group.

To sum it up:
The Democrats have PPH ( Planned Parent Hood) to limit black population and Republican have the 2nd Amendment to limit black population.

If you want to truly want to change that, the left needs to go pro life and the right needs promote gun free zones in the inner drug ridden cities.
