"A Fourth Car Absolutely Buggered!" - Deadly Mexican Street

luxintenebris says...

Lived near an intersection where one got used to hearing auto crashes. Whenever it sounded like someone dropping a refrigerator off the back of a truck - it was time to call 911.

Know of a house in CA that was hit 7 or 8 times because of the road design. Took years for homeowners to get the officials to improve it.

it'd be the home to the right of the 'turnaround' area behind the rock (which might have been the homeowners' first solution to the problem - a few deaths just might get officials to take it seriously). Also if you zoom in on the north side of the house, there is a patio doorway. That's the area where it got hit last. Maybe it was easier than fixing the wall?

the high traffic street use to just slope off into a residential street. some folks didn't know the road ended despite some signage. most just travel not knowing it ended couldn't stop in time or missed the turn at high speed.

Ding Dong Ditch never looked so painful

A great example of why I have a front fence and a dog.
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit to hear that the kid’s parents sued the homeowner because their child got hurt on their property.
Stupider lawsuits have been successful.

Kid Gets Caught While Trying to Steal Package

cloudballoon says...

The camera isn't racist. The homeowner might be a racist (we would not know unless he/she uploads every instance of such attempts to give a cold-hard-fact account that's free of manipulation -- even though that's STILL not factoring in the socio-econo-racial problem of the neighborhood -- if you choose to see things with a racial lens). But the comment absolutely is racist.

Years ago, living in my suburb home, my bike was stolen by 2 kids (garage door was open as I was mowing the lawn, but I went inside for the loo for 2 mins), I was lucky and spotted them about 5~6 streets down (took 2 lucky correct turns). They were 2 kids about 8~10 y.o. One White one Asian. Guess which one was the older, pack leader (hold my adult-size bike) and absolutely showing no remorse after getting caught?

Regardless, the kids parents might have a hard life working on weekends at low paying jobs so couldn't spend time with these kids. Who knows? I'm not so quick to judgement without knowing the root causes.

Thing is, I blame society-at-large and not see it as a racial thing. Kids are kids, easy to succumb to such temptation without good parental/peer/mentor guidance. Especially nowadays, they see adults making a CAREER/LIVING as Porch Pirates, what examples are adults giving them to imitate? You have like 40% of the adult population celebrate con mans and elect them Senators, Governors & President!

Planting Trees to Grow Forests | Eden Reforestation Projects

luxintenebris jokingly says...

any homeowner trying to replace a tree knows that there is a difference between planting and growing a tree.

if only the effort to keep a wanted tree alive was equal to the ease of raising the bastard tree growing along the fencing, against the house, or rising out of flower beds was the same...no street would be w/o a canopy.

I Remember .

They are going up a lot. Not due to global warming .

Rates most likely going up due to dollar losing 50+% of value since 2000.

from the Herald Tribune
https://www.heraldtribune.com/story/business/2021/01/04/florida-homeowners-face-higher-rates-property-insurance-2021/4038548001/

"Property owners throughout Florida are seeing their insurance rates soar, as companies had rate increases approved ranging from from 12% to 31%. Insurers point to high rates for reinsurance, which is basically insurance to back up insurers, and claims for water damage from leaks that are not hurricane-related.

Another factor cited was that claims still were rolling in from Hurricane Irma in 2017 and Michael in 2018. Policy holders have a three-year window to submit wind damage claims. Insured losses from Irma totaled $17.44 billion while Category 5 Michael generated $7.9 billion in claims for insured losses, according to FOIR."

Hurricane rated not more no less over last 100+ years.

Remember that time you said if climate change and sea level rise were real, insurance in places like Florida would skyrocket or disappear. Guess what.

Not only has it skyrocketed like I told you was happening back then, but many companies have now just left places like Florida altogether because it costs them far too much to payout over flooding and extreme weather events that are now regular occurrences.

My guess....you'll ignore what you claimed, ignore what the companies say, and ignore the data that's undeniable and blame liberals for faking the insurance fiasco and faking constant repeated flooding and extreme weather decimating many areas, especially coastal and low lying areas....or you'll just deny things are demonstrably worsening.

What I know for certain, you won't admit you were/are wrong, and won't accept any responsibility for dragging your feet and obstructing vital progress with unending stubborn denial of reality and making the situation exponentially worse and the time to mitigate it exponentially shorter.

This Is Why You Should Pay Your Workers

ForgedReality says...

I was confused due to the lack of context but the Youtube description says:

"Landscape gardeners destroyed a brand new patio and fences with sledgehammers after a homeowner allegedly refused to pay £7,300 for the work. Jack Pendergast claimed the customer in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, failed to pay despite asking five times."

Albuquerque homeowners tapes up man for breaking in his home

Really? I think they handled it perfectly well for being homeowners and not part of a SWAT/Police/Military team.

Know just enough to wonder:

1) She just announced she owns guns and where she keeps them with pictures of the gun safe. Ok, pros and cons to that.
2) She passed through line of fire of her husband/partner instead of getting the subject flat or circling around the other side. I think that's a no-no.
3) Why take him in the house in confined spaces instead of outside on the lawn when he exits? And then way too many people enter the house before the guy is restrained.

Florida man said he mistook ex-girlfriend for intruder

newtboy says...

Good lesson.
Don't just enter a house you don't live in, even if you used to live there, and answer clearly when the homeowner asks who you are.
In Texas, I was taught you shoot first and ask who's there later when there's an intruder in your home.

Highschool Kid shot at asking for directions to school

newtboy says...

"These people" might well mean 'the robbers'. Who else bangs on your door uninvited in the early morning (in the dark?) and refuses to leave until threatened with a gun? This is in Detroit, not Mayberry.

"Walker told WJBK TV that “she was like, ‘Why are you trying to break into my house?’ I was trying to explain to her that I was trying to get directions to Rochester High. And she kept yelling at me. Then the guy came downstairs, and he grabbed the gun,"
When the homeowner is clearly scared and screaming at you to leave, don't argue and keep trying to get inside.
Bang on my door at the break of dawn and refuse to leave, I won't give a warning shot, and I won't miss, race is not a factor.

Sounds to me like he was trying to rob them, got caught, and made up a ridiculous story about being lost and attacked for being black.

So many obvious fake racism claims posted lately that it seems nearly certain to me this is just more of the same. Let's see the full, unedited surveillance video, I bet it tells a different story.

Not kids or war on terror.

Do rival taggers come by and beat you up for defacing their art?

Do you have to run from angry homeowners?

Do the cops shake you down because they see all the paint on your hands?
