Man Gets Payback After Neighbor Steals Shovel

Who Pays on a First Date?
That thing about "best friend"? I have been saying that EXACT THING for years.
And not just about who pays for a date. It is for all aspects of the relationship. If I wouldn't put up with certain crap from a friend, why would I from a fella?
Side note -- never have I been in an abusive relationship. I wonder why that is?
But I know I am wired differently.
Long before feminism was a big important concept to me, I went on my first date with a young man I didn't know well.
I was 13 years old, in 1967. We went to a matinee at the local movie theater. Fifty cents a ticket.
I remember standing behind him in line, as he awkwardly paid, and I awkwardly didn't know what to do or say.
And my main thought was -- I have a job. I can afford my own ticket. (I cleaned test tubes in the junior high science lab. I still have sense memories of moldy agar in a petri dish.)
I never got over that. I still feel that way. Go ahead and treat me to something special that you can afford. Next time, it'll be my turn to pick the activity and I'll pick something I can afford.
I was lousy at dating. But I was clear about the basic equality necessary in order to respectful to both of us.
STAR TREK BEYOND Official Trailer #2 (2016)
First Contact has three unforgivable flaws.
1. The time travel plot makes zero sense. Why do the Borg need to go back to that particular time to assimilate humanity? Why don't they go back to pre-WW3, where there were a) more humans to assimilate and b) lower tech weapons? Why do they need to interrupt the moment of humanity's first contact with the Vulcans? Why do they give themselves such a tiny margin of error by only giving themselves a few days to assimilate Earth before the deadline? Why don't they send Borg down to begin assimilating humanity straight away? And the Enterprise conceals itself from the Vulcans by hiding behind the fucking moon.
2. The writers fundamentally ruin the idea of the Borg by giving it a figurehead it doesn't need. They are not a collective if they have a Queen; they are subjects.
3. Worst of all, Picard's characterisation is a complete volte face. Seven seasons of the TV show proved that Picard just isn't a man who stoops to revenge. Only a year or so after recovering from his own assimilation, Picard has the chance to cripple or destroy the Borg forever and he doesn't take it, because he's a man of balance and pragmatism, not of blind rage. His sudden change into Captain Ahab is lazy and it's unearned. Picard, like everything else in the film, is dumbed-down for the sake of the action, and the character as written undermines the work done over the course of the TV series, amputates him from Roddenberry, and is frankly unworthy of being performed by Patrick Stewart.
Star Trek: First Contact is fucking dumb.
Of course I have to concede to subjectivity and some of the action is very exciting (if still stupid; the "no firing at the deflector dish oh except when you do" incident is a prime example). But it's only possible to enjoy it as an action movie if you like your action movies to appeal to the very lowest common denominator.
I don't think it's fair to say that First Contact was as dumb as you say it was.
If Meat Eaters Acted Like Vegans
@transmorpher
ha! right on man.
let me start that there really is no argument between us,just a disagreement by degrees is all.
you do not have to refute my claim that "veganism is carried out for the feeling of superiority."
because i never made that claim.
my criticism was specific and focused on a single person @ahimsa,who,if you read his commentary,is most certainly taking a morally superior stance.
if you compare how you were interacting and how ahimsa was interacting.the differences are quite stark.
you were quite open and honest on how you eventually reached veganism.(bravo my friend),but i didnt really see you berate or belittle someone for still eating meat,or being a non-vegan.
oh...you certainly argued your points and exposed weak and facile arguments.you offered new ways of looking at the situation, but you really didn't judge a person for not following your ways of thinking/being/doing.
basically you took responsibility for your choices.shared your reasons for those choices and have allowed people to make THEIR own choices.
how can you not respect that?
which is why i wanted to trade partners.
tongue in cheek of course..that was my way of giving you props and respect.
ahimsa,on the other hand, didnt even respect those he engaged with enough to even use his own words, and instead indulged in presumption, laziness and pretentious twattery.(god,i love that phrase.thank you britain!)
ahimsa approached veganism much the same way a newly born again person approaches talking about their new love for jesus,by proselytizing.
being a man of faith i can understand and relate to someone experiencing a profoundly life changing event, manifested by a serious epiphany and the desire to share that new understanding with everyone you meet.confident in an absolute certitude of righteousness.
but it can be so aggravating to be on the receiving end of such self righteousness, because there has been little time of actual examination and reflection.the newness and novelty cloud all other considerations and ANY rebuttal or deviation is seen as an affront,a sacrilege and blasphemy and therefore should be dismissed...entirely.
i suspect that ahimsa is young and his/her veganism is fairly new and fresh.this would explain the religious quality of his/her arguments.
YOU..on the other hand, have approached from a far more even handed and open way.choosing instead to use humor and wit to make your arguments while not judging those you disagree, allowing for a real dialogue which can lead to understanding.
so good on you mate.
i specifically like the fact you lay out your journey and the reasons why ,but you do not admonish those for not following the same path.which is the correct way to engage.
and what i REALLY dig,is that your argument is basically "this is how i came to where i am,and i am betting that you will to...eventually".
because,at it's heart, you are 100% correct.there really IS no reason to eat meat.
a person who eats meat really has only ONE reason and that is simply "because i want to".now there are cultural and racial reasons, long standing heritage and dishes passed down over generations, and you acknowledge that, because it really is important and is underlying reason why so many still eat meat(and because we want to).
but i suspect that your final argument is more correct than incorrect.meat will eventually go away and be replaced by something better and more healthy.
but that takes time.possibly a generation or two.maybe three.
you recognize this, while ahimsa does not.
i also suspect you may be heading on your way to old fartdom.
anyways,thanks for the dance mate.
you seem a righteous dude.

She asked if I was vegan - Gary the goat
Overheard in a restaurant:
"Do you have vegan dishes?"
"Well...how vegan are you?"
"I can eat chicken."

I was surprised myself!
The very best vegetarian meat substitute dish I ever had was in Singapore, and was a tofu-skin "chicken" drumstick with sugarcane in the middle. It didn't really try to be like chicken, but was absolutely delicious.

OK, let's ignore the sideshow and get to the point. Yes, you make choices that do no harm and make you feel better unlike others (I'm looking at you, homeopathy). So did Kriss Kross but I still feel compelled to call wearing your pants backwards stupid. Your food trend isn't that much better.
I don't have to sift through the internet to know that. Do you like dessert?
I make a lot of dessert. A LOT! Even vegan. Vegan Vanillasauce. I have to replace milk and cream with soymilk and the eggyolks with some starch (usually corn, for the gluten-free asshats). The only original ingredients are sugar (healthy!) and vanillabean.
You see the problem?
I replace ingredients you object to to mimic a product you shouldn't want in the first place. All the fucking time. All the fucking time I see vegan recipes of dishes that normally contain eggs or milk or butter or even meatproducts. I know a cook who can make vegan Leberwurst. Go on, google 'Leberwurst' and explain to me how somebody who wants to eat that and be vegan isn't a tool.
I don't mind vegetarians at all. They have actually compelling reasons for that diet choice. I wouldn't make that choice ever but I can respect theirs and believe everybody should (a lot of people don't). I loose my respect for individual vegetarians the minute they start talking about Tofuschnitzel. You want Schnitzel? Maybe you should just go and have Schnitzel. You can still eat vegetarian the rest of the week. You're just 'mostly vegetarian' then. That's fine too.
Imagine a man who tells you all the time how he disapproves of the 'homosexual lifestyle' and thinks that kind of behaviour is immoral and wrong. Then that man goes home, tells his wife to get her strap-on and moans 'Channing!' repeatedly while she does him from behind.
That man is as much of a tool as the guy who walks in a restaurant and orders vegan creme brulee. Or any pie. Or pancakes. Or Lasagne. Or a milkshake. Or something with Cheese. Or with Honey. Or icecream. Sorbets are fine though. They're mostly fruit, sugar (healthy!) and water.
I don't hate you, I just call out the stupid thing you do. You want to improve the treatment of animals, make it more ethical? That's fine, I'm with you on that. I just don't see how not using butter can help.
...
But all of this is a sideshow. The real point is that I make choices that do no one any harm and make me feel better. You on the other hand apparently go sifting through the internet for arguments against my lifestyle, fail to subject those arguments to even cursory critical thinking in your zeal, and parrot them on a video sharing community while proudly declaring your loathing for people like me.
I think this says a lot more about your relationship to eating animals than it does about mine.

Frozen Lullaby by Garfunkel and Oates
*promote (got me by 5 min)
When a man doesn’t love a woman very very much
He signs away his paternal rights and jizzes in a cup
Then with lots of money and scientific genius
Hormones, pain and of course, um… Jesus
The process begins the way god intended
With a transvaginal ultrasound
With a wand longer than a ukulele
When it comes out of my body, it makes this sound (pop)
I give myself daily intradermal injections
An acute blood thinner and estrogen concurrence
Cryopreservation through hormonal activation
And none of it’s covered by insurance
Then I’m knocked out and you’re removed
And combined with a stranger’s come
And as the saying goes
You win some, you lose some/you dispose of the defective ones in a hazardous waste bin
And then you’re frozen until I’m certain
It’s time to unthaw you into a person
Then you’ll expire or you’ll make the grade
And that, my darling, that’s how babies are made
(It’s so easy and natural)
CHORUS:
Hush little egg baby don’t say a word
Mama’s gonna freeze you til she gets rich
And when that day finally arrives
You’ll be constructed in a petri dish
With sperm donor 8w6-3
The silent partner of our family
So hush little egg baby don’t be sad
Just because I never fucked your dad
VERSE 2:
I know there are orphans everywhere
But I’m going to pretend that isn’t real
Don’t look at me like that just cause I admit it
You had kids and you knew the deal
Yeah I feel guilty about overpopulation
And ruining the environment for forever
But Osama Bin Laden had 20 kids
So fuck you or whatever
Sadly procreation is not a meritocracy
And we need to prevent a real life Idiocracy
Though it may be the ultimate form of narcissism
It’s also a way to re-reverse reverse Darwinism
Gonna mute the sound of that ticking clock
I just need the sperm now I don’t need the cock
My ovaries are like hey girl I’m over here
And I’m all like shhhh
I want all the stuff I don’t need a bucket list
It doesn’t make me greedy it just makes me feminist
Now I’m thinking back through all the guys I’ve dated
If they heard this song they’d fucking hate it
CHORUS:
Hush little egg baby don’t you cry
You’ll have the best genes mommy can buy
I don’t want to wait until I get in dire straights
My friends say if I want kids I should go out on some dates
But these working bitches don’t have time to leave it to the fates
The world deserves more Riki’s and the world deserves more Kate’s
So hush little egg baby dad’s are overrated
He did what mattered when he masturbated
BRIDGE:
Hush little egg baby just hold firm
Mama’s gonna buy you designer sperm
And if that sperm gives you random traits
Mama’s gonna test your dna
And if your dna doesn’t make things clear
Mama’s gonna just have to live in fear
And if that fear turns into guilt
Mama’s gonna hold onto what we built
And if I hold too tight as to suffocate
I’ll buy you lots of things to overcompensate
And if that overcompensation’s too transparent
I’ll pretend it’s somehow better with no male parent
And if you say but mom who’s my dad
I’ll say I don’t know and it’s just too bad
And if that badness forms a hole in your heart
I’ll want to make it up to you but won’t know where to start
I’ll probably start by saying it’s just you and me
And there’s no such thing as a normal family
So fuck being normal and let’s do this shit
Momma’s gonna freeze you til she… gets…. rich
Cop Kills Mexican For Slowly Shuffling In His Direction
Then your debate skills are severely lacking. My debate coach would have suspended you from the team.
You used at least 2 completely different scenarios to attempt to show what this one COULD have turned out like...if only the guy had been acting completely differently and been armed....that's like me saying your steak tastes like chicken, let me prove it by showing you some chicken dishes. See, I'm right, those taste like chicken, so your steak must taste like chicken...or it COULD taste like chicken....if only it were chicken. You don't know that steak won't suddenly start tasting like chicken...so it's rational for me to keep saying it already does, or at least could, and should be treated like it's chicken. You don't know that steaks intentions. ;-)
YOU brought up ridiculous comparisons between dis-similar situations and adding "if" and "could", I merely pointed out how silly that is with (also silly) magic golden finger guns. It's just as likely that my fingers will turn into golden guns as it is this unarmed man will suddenly be armed. The fact remains, he wasn't.
Assuming he is armed and dangerous is not a reasonable reaction to someone who's hands are empty and visible, and has no obvious 'bulge' anywhere indicating he's carrying, and is not making furtive moves, and is moving slowly, hands up.
Because someone COULD turn violent, but totally has not, is not an excuse to kill them. Are you really so dense you don't get that? It honestly seems that's the case.
I hope you mean 'good bye', this conversation between us was worthless, and still seems like you simply want to argue....poorly.
Actually, I do have a point and I am not arguing. Its called debating a difference of opinion. Other instances are not just other instances. They groom the way we act and react to situations based on past examples of previous encounters and behaviors. This guy tried to 1: Evade police in his car, 2: endangered the public in doing so, 3: refused to obey the officers requests to stay back, 4: verbally provoked the officer, 5: acted erratically once out of the car. This all attributed to a hostile situation. I'm sorry you decide to "argue" irrational points of golden firearms and laser beams. It seems you're the one with no point. You say that nobody knows another persons intentions. By that same fact, how do you know this guy was going to be non-violent after disregarding the officers simple command to stay back and advanced towards the officer. The suspects actions contributed to the outcome of the situation as much as the way the officers did.
"Good Bye."
mass incarceration-why does the US jail so many people?
You know, capitalism is like salt. Food would be shit without it. There are few dishes where you can't add salt for a better taste. I love salt. However, when you start eating salt by the spoonfulls, you doing it the american way. There is simply no "too much" and no dish where it could ever ruin the taste. So if you strawberries dipped in kosher salt taste shitty, it must be the fruit's fault.
