Anatomy of a Scene -- A Quiet Place
Since we're in spoiler town, any guess what the creatures were meant to be? They seem too dumb to be Aliens. Maybe subterranean bat monsters from the center of the earth?
Anatomy of a Scene -- A Quiet Place
Yeah, the whiteboard wasn't the most elegant way to convey that information, but it's quick and efficient, and it's still better than having one of the characters flat-out say that stuff even though they'd all know it already.
As for the second issue, as greatgooglymoogly mentioned, they're only able to shoot the creature because of the dumb luck of the frequency of the hearing aid weakening it and causing its armour to pop off. Deus ex machina, maybe, but the film spends enough time planting that seed that it doesn't feel too blatant.
I didn't really like the movie. Certain parts of it was well done, but there are some glaring issues that ruined my suspension of disbelief.
For example, early in the movie we got a shot of John's character's workshop, and there's this whiteboard with the most basic information about the monsters written on it in large bold letters. Your character has masterfully survived for over a year under constant threat from these monsters, and you have to write down that the creatures are blind? Who is this even for other than the audience? It's such a lazy way of conveying information and disrepectful of your viewer's intelligence.
Also, the ending was pretty ridiculous.
*spoiler warning*
The fact that these monsters are susceptible to small firearms (even if they have ARMOR as the whiteboard reminds us) makes the premise that they overran all the world's militaries in a few months pretty unbelievable.

From bean to plant
ABSOLUTE PROOF
Plants are living beings with character and intelligent.
Vegetarians need to stop killing and eating these amazing creatures. I can't believe how cruel minded they are that they don't care for these living beings. Vegetarians raise them from a seed just to kill them indiscriminately for food.
Sadly these amazing creatures may not live to see Day 30

Rare Angler Fish Mating Caught on Video
I am curious if the lights used to study these deep sea creatures leave their specimens blind.
Minke whale underwater in Antarctica
What a beautiful creature in those first 10 seconds <3
Bubble rings
Boooo. Get these creatures out of the tank and back in the ocean.
Lost in Space | Date Announcement | Netflix
I am so one of the few who thought the William Hurt movie version really got a lot of things right. I loved the style, the effects, the acting, the actors (leblanc takes some time to get used to. I did not like friends and he has a punchable mug). The only thing that fell apart was the last 3rd of the movie, the whole time travel going back to a mutant gary oldman spider creature was just so...unwanted. But the lighting, the way the ship looked, the way the suits were designed, awesome. There is very little I see that I like in this trailer.
Charlie the Unicorn Goes To The Moon
I am a millipede I am amazing, I command you to gaze upon my FACE
You'll never find someone charming as I am, I'm the swankiest bug out in space
I'm a star, I'm a God, I'm a thing to behold, there is none as resplendent as I
With my sleek little legs and my three hundred eggs, my majesty none can deny
Because I am a millipede I am mysterious, when I vanish I never leave a trace
You will not find a bug with such illusions, I'm the creature of fathomless grace

I am a millipede I am a champion, no one else in the universe keeps pace
You'll never find someone quite as enchanting, while I'm here there's just no second place I'm an idol, a king, an object of awe, there's none such as gleaming as I
I've got glamour to spare, right when you stare
I'm the who what when where and they why

Mark Hamill : "He's not my Luke Skywalker"
AFAIK Lucas had a very rudimentary naive vision of what the original film should be like, and the initial nerdish freak show version was totally rehashed in editing to create an actual story with characters, which the rest of the franchise is based on.
I blame Lucas for all the awkward dialogue and impractical creatures and creations in that whole strange universe that he gets credit for creating.
...much of what I love about Star Wars comes not from Lucas, but from ...

Fear No Weevil: Taking on the World’s Worst Weed
Nutria don't die off every winter, so the weevils are likely to be less of a problem. There was actually a small scale trial before they built the weevil greenhouses, which didn't uncover any major issues with them.
See https://features.texasmonthly.com/editorial/creature-green-lagoon/ for many more details including the lack of frost tolerance:
I hope this goes better than the introduction of nutria, which Texas did to combat other invasive water weeds. They are now a major problem, causing massive erosion problems and displacing naive species. It makes me wonder what problems these weevils are going to cause in 10 years....how many native plants will they eat to extinction?

Heavy amounts of schleem were used, and liberal application of fleeb along with fleeb juice.
