Joe Biden - 17 Minutes Of Joe's Melting Brain

vil says...

Half of those clips mock his stuttering, that is some heavy-weight below the belt trolling.

Some of those clips show Biden making a mistake, correcting it and moving on. Refreshing from a would be POTUS.

Even when he forgets a word he manages to finish a coherent sentence most of the time.

Put this defamatory attempt at an insult up against a RANDOM clip of Trump and compare.

Jim Jefferies tells Piers Morgan to Fuck Off

harlequinn says...

Yes, how about that, "the argument followed". (I've got a screen shot of that. It's now my wallpaper. Lol. Jk).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muphry's_law (I've done it before - and no doubt I'll do it again).

"Is that somehow above your comprehension level, so not coherent to you?" Yes, that's it. Clearly it's above my "comprehension level". Lol. So, have you got a clip showing Trump calling it a Muslim ban. Because I googled it and couldn't find one. Is there evidence that Muslim's are banned from the USA? I can't see any. I googled it but apparently the majority of Muslims in the world have no travel ban (it was a geographic ban, not a religious one). Apparently the Obama administration had already designated travel conditions on those seven countries and this is an extension of those conditions. http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin/statements/2017/feb/07/reince-priebus/were-7-nations-identified-donald-trumps-travel-ban/

I don't dispute that the list is not well thought out (by either administration). I don't dispute that the majority religion affected is Islam. I do dispute that it is singularly a Muslim ban, because it's not. It bans everyone from those nations. If you want to dispute this fact, then please provide some evidence. Jim Jefferies got it wrong.

Where did I defend anyone? I called out Jefferies. I can't see any words where I defend anyone.

I didn't support or vote for anyone. I'm not an American citizen. I'm looking from the outside in - and that gives me a good perspective.

newtboy said:

No, it wasn't. I said AN argument followed. If you want to be niggling, be correct. Arguments came before AND after. (Edit:ok, looking back, I did say "the argument followed" my mistake here, but not there, the argument did follow. I did not intend that to mean the ONLY argument followed, there were arguments both before and after "fuck off")
"He said it was a Muslim ban"is pretty understandable to me....as is "it is a Muslim ban". Is that somehow above your comprehension level, so not coherent to you?
Whether you voted for him or not, whether you intend it or not, whether you like him or not, by defending this Trump (non) apologist and denying those statements are an argument against the claim that there's no Muslim ban, you are at least tacitly supporting Trump.

"Cogent" depends largely on the listener.

That's the claim, that he offered no argument.

I only addressed that point, when argument was offered, because you seemingly myopicly targeted what you thought was a mistake that made your point.

If I understood it and found it convincing, it's cogent....and I do.

I finally agree with something you said...in part....Jim Jefferies is a loud mouthed verbally aggressive comedian.
But, I think "He (Trump) called it a Muslim ban." is a cogent, coherent, and concise argument. Edit:so do the lawyers suing to stop the ban. ;-)

I watched it when it aired, the whole thing.
I'm not desperate, nor do I care a whit about Jim, I don't like him, he's as much an ass as Morgan, I care that a good argument against bullshit isn't discarded because you can't or won't grasp it. I never claimed he made the argument well, or that he didn't ramble, just that he offered an argument, it made sense, and it is applicable.

I don't recall who invoked Hitler first, but if I remember correctly, they both did in the full show. Since Jefferies came out later, it was probably Morgan before Jefferies made his appearance, but I can't be sure.

And PS- I hate Clinton almost as much as Trump. I supported Sanders, the only honest person that ran.

TDS 2/24/14 - Denunciation Proclamation

Trancecoach says...

Andrew Napolitano agrees that Lincoln did not engage in war to end slavery but to bring back the seceding confederacy, as the clip Stewart clip shows. He also shows a clip, presented without context of Napolitano talking about the war being unnecessary to free the slaves. That is addressing those many who believe the war was fought to free the slaves. Napolitano in the original interview is addressing both camps: those who think the war was about slavery and those who think it was about tariffs or something else to indicate either way, it was unnecessary. Watch Napolitano's statements on Lincoln in full, not taken with zero context like Stewart does, and you will see that even if he thinks the war was about something other than slavery, he says that. Even if it had been about slavery as many people, namely Lincoln fans, and even historian have argued, even still, it was an unnecessary "murderous" war. There is no contradiction there. If you think it was about slavery, then still it was the wrong approach to it. And more likely it was not even about slavery. So his comments are meant for someone who thinks it was about slavery. Stewart just edited out the context, as he typically does. The context being that he is addressing the persistent idea that the war for Lincoln was or became about slavery.

Maybe it needs more simplification. Napolitano's point:

Some believe the civil war was necessary to liberate slaves. But if Lincoln had wanted to free the slaves, there were a number of options to pursue. Instead, he 'set out on the most murderous war in American history'. Because the intention was not to free the slaves to begin with.

What about that makes no sense? If anything, the "debate" on this point is what "makes no sense."

BTW, among those who believe the war was not about taxes is Jon Stewart.

Taint said:

Since this topic appears to have gone off the reservation, let me reign you back in for a moment.

I encourage you to re-watch the video we're commenting on.

This whole discussion, including the commentary by Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, is all a response to Judge Napolitano's comments, on what is supposed to be an actual news network and, I imagine, supposed to be taken seriously?

Napolitano says: "Instead of allowing it to die, helping it to die, or even purchasing the slaves and then freeing them, which would have cost a lot less money than the Civil War cost, Lincoln set out on the most murderous war in American history."

That's what he said. In this very video, which is what we're all commenting on.

I just quoted you claiming that Napolitano believes that the Lincoln pursued the war to restore the union, when that's exactly what he's not saying here.

You're attacking the comedians for making jokes about this and accusing them for doing what Napolitano just did!

He's the one claiming that Lincoln attacked the south to free the slaves!

So, again I ask, what are you even talking about?

This video, the daily show response, all of this argument, was supposed to be about Napolitano being totally wrong. I originally commented here because you were parroting his claims that Lincoln had a lot of options, but chose "murderous war" instead of buying every slave or whatever other imagined option you think he had.

So either you understand why the Civil War started, and we agree, as you sometimes seem to indicate, or you're in agreement with Napolitano and his view that Lincoln started the Civil War as one of his apparently many options for ending slavery.

So which is it?

Do you understand why you make no sense?

Not only didn't they laugh, they didn't even boo. They were dead.

Letterman or Ferguson could have played those comments into big laughs.

One of the Most Exciting Moments in eSports History

SWBStX says...

DOTA stands for Defense of the Ancients. It was originally a Warcraft 3 mod that has been remade by Valve into it's own stand alone game, now called DOTA2. It's technically still in Beta despite this being the second year they've had the International tournament with the $1 million prize to the top team.

The team who is winning is "Na Vi". This clip shows their opponent "iG" sweeping around to pull off what is called a "smoke gank" and which they seem to have set up perfectly. However one character on Na Vi's team is able to use one of his abilities to disable most of the other team giving his teammate time to steal a key ability from the other team and turn around a fight that should have been devastating.

It's a little hard to explain and even harder to tell what is going on if you don't know anything about the game. But what you should know is that it was an amazing turn around at a crucial moment on one of esports' biggest stages. It would be kinda like intercepting a touchdown pass from your opponent to then run it back for your own score in American football. Perhaps something like one or two goals in stoppage time to comeback and win a football(soccer) game.

This post has gone on far too long, check out Dota2 if you're interested in finding an excellent team oriented PC online game.

I find these videos (and to a lesser extent, their songs) very formulaic. For instance, you can almost guarantee they'll be clapping in any given song; and the video of that song will almost certainly feature a clip showing them clapping. I mean, can we get them a grant or something so they can shoot a new video outside? A new locale? Maybe someone else can shoot their video, someone with a fresh perspective? How about a video featuring neither of these two? They're so very chummy and everything. It's always the same happy horseshit. I just get sick of it, that's all.

Ahh, I feel better now.

No, you have listed a bunch of neat stuff that could look cool in slow-motion. The point Yogi was trying to make is that the "art" portion of this video comes from unique camera angles, setup, different colors used (Primary), engaging background music, the switching of time-shifting, ect... were all carefully constructed to make this video intriguing. And that, my friend, is art.

You don't have to agree with the video to upvote - I think all the Fox News clips show that.

>> ^Hybrid:

Here, here. There's been a few videos like that recently, where I object to the content and want to down-vote it. (i.e. a woman getting hit by a guy for not giving him her number), but also upvote it to make sure it's seen and raises awareness. Tricky.
>> ^ponceleon:
I feel like videos need a "push" button... a non-upvote-non-downvote. Abstain, or something like that.
