How David Fincher uses CGI to perfection: kaptainkristian

No, it's not trendy. It's good taste hating on rubbish. The CGI that people hate on is lazy or unnecessary or both.

David Fincher - And the Other Way is Wrong

How David Fincher uses CGI to perfection: kaptainkristian

Do you really think people hate on cgi, just because it's cgi? I can't imagine that would ever be the case. I myself hate it when i notice it poorly done and looks like shit. Tends to take me out of the story/movie. Bad cgi like bad anything just sucks, and it's more apparent these days as it's used so much more.

While this may be true for Fincher films, it's also true for most films that are not thought of as VFX films.

Other than horrible story telling there is little i hate more than overused, shit cgi. Fincher makes great films and now i have that much more respect for his work. *promote the appropriate finely tuned use of CGI to make movies the best they can be.

The only CGI I ever noticed in a Fincher film was Benjamin Button. I think he reached too far on that one... didn't like it personally.
All these other ones though... I had no idea. Who CGIs blood rivulets?! Jeezus.

PORTAL Break Down: Pure and Simple Origins!

Drachen_Jager says...

I actually knew a few of the people involved. DigiPen (where the students who designed Portal went) was just up the road (and my second choice for a CGI school) from where I got my education in computer animation. I used to hang out with Ben Morris who built level design tools for Doom and Quake back in the day and went on to build the level design tool for Valve that they used on Halflife and Portal.

I also worked on Navy Seals, the project Gooseman did before Counter Strike.

Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and keep collaborating with some of those folks instead of finding a different path (animating for TV shows).

It’s a Mad Mad Mad Max Fury Road

First 5 minutes of Ghost in the Shell Movie.

RedSky says...

The trailer featured Kuze, who was the main antagonist in the 2nd GiG.

This scene is a call back to the original movie but it doesn't mean the story is related.

I'm glad they didn't go the CGI route, just seems kind of off to me.

The suit looks awesome, nothing fat and bulky about it what soever. At first I thought it was a digital body in the trailers but then adam savage did a whole video on it.

It does not look like it is going to take on either sac or 2nd gig. The storyline that the major was forced to have this done to her is definitely origin story and forked timeline stuff, in fact it appears that she is near one of a kind with her full synthetic body in this version of the world. At the same time section 9 is formed already.

Yeah, I don't see how they can fit any significant component of the 2nd GiG season in a movie, let alone any philosophical depth. Stylistically they seem to be on the right track, although Hollywood has never been short of pretty visual effects.

Have to admit the Major suit does look a bit silly as almost like a fat suit, but I understand that they couldn't have done it any other way without CGI. Whatever, as long as it's a stylistic action flick that doesn't butcher the story it will have met my expectations.

So they are crossing SAC with the Movie?? That really does not make sense.... HMmmmmm
