It actually was a break off sect of the Mormon faith run by Warren Jeffs. Who was the polygamist leader that was over that small city that was raided in Texas a few years ago. So this wasn't from the LDS faith, it was from the FLDS sect that believes rather strange and disgusting things that have no affiliation with the Mormon faith other than that they think that polygamy should still be practiced and in very nasty gross ways. I have many friends that are mormon and they are very torn apart by the news of this story, that is not a way to treat any of God's creatures.
So I'd say we all shouldn't be just throwing accusations out at any religion until you know all of the facts. It's something I need to work on myself actually, but yeah, this is terrible that something like this has happened. I do not want to see something like this happen again!


Totally not religious, or arguing for or against anything here but being careful and certain, but that headline reads:

However the article has NO mention of anyone associated with any group being caught on camera. It says what we already know: they assume it was this group, and someone video taped the cat, no perpetrators or evidence.

This seems entirely misleading. So no, it wasn't "actually a break off sect of the Mormom faith". That is still an assumption by the people who found the cat, who's only other evidence is that they say this group threw dead animals on the guys property over the years.

If the details about the other preceding dead animals turn out to be true, then it definitely lends more weight to the accusation of this being caused by really terrible people from this FLDS group, but it's beyond rational comprehension why people are throwing that around, when it seems to me to be just as likely that a cat fell into an open pit in the middle of the night by circumstance.

Update:

The truck driver caught on camera swerving at a passing motorcycle on May 22, on a rural Bracken County road, was sentenced to prison on Thursday.

Hudson, 23, of Pendleton County, entered a guilty plea on Nov. 18, in Bracken Circuit Court to an offer from the Commonwealth's Attorney Office.

He was sentenced Thursday to two years in jail on each of two wanton endangerment counts, 90 days in jail for menacing and a $100 fine for reckless driving. The sentences run concurrent for a total of two years, court officials said.

In the incident, caught on a camera mounted on one of two motorcycles, Hudson is seen driving a truck which enters Kentucky 22 ahead of the motorcyclists and drives in the same direction. As
the lead cycle attempts to pass Hudson on the left, Hudson appeared to purposefully steer into the lane and nearly forced the motorcycle off the road. The motorcycle with the camera continued to follow until all three vehicles stopped at an intersection and a verbal altercation with threats ensued.

Hudson is in Mason County Detention Center awaiting transfer to a state prison facility.

I'd normally agree, but as far as i'm concerned, her bahaviour is fucking abnormal. The most she's going to get is a slap on the wrist, have to go to a few meetings maybe. Then she'll be poncing around again in her "auuuuudiiiiiii" blocking up streets again, and maybe she'll attempt to intimidate, falsely accuse, lie to, steal from, assault..... (did i miss any out?) people again from her high fucking perch.

Agreed. Let's get some perspective here; she may be an inconsiderate driver and an ignorant, self-important asshole, but she didn't kill anyone or even put a kitten in a bin. Abusive emails or phone calls are not ok.

If you're paranoid that you're going to hit someone with your car and get caught. Well I'm just going to say, "good"
Don't drive like you're the only one on the road and you'll be fine. It's really not that difficult to drive safely, nor do you really get to your destination significantly quicker if you drive recklessly.

Paranoid simply because you know you're being observed and recorded, and that even the most minor transgression or accident could be easily punishable. Paranoid because every vehicle on the road has a camera pointed at you. Paranoid because living in a surveillance state is an awful thing, made even seedier when it's other citizens doing the surveilling.
The "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about" argument always makes my goddamn skin crawl.

I understand where you're coming from and I respect it. But when you think about the world we live in now. The right to privacy has become kinda obsolete, IMO. When you think about it, you're watched/monitored and recorded in so many places in modern society that are all commonly accepted that the idea of privacy on a public road is silly.

You're watched and monitored by your friends..your family, your co-workers, your boss every day, every minute of your life. Every purchase you make with a debit/credit card is recorded which ultimately tracks your movements throughout the day

So from that perspective, the idea of being monitored on a publicly used road...for the sake of safety, for the sake of catching the lowlifes that hit and run....is an easy choice to make, IMO

The warning about trading freedom for security is not lost upon me. But I don't think we're really trading freedom, nor does it increase security. It merely adds accountability to ones actions. It's a public road we're talking about here and if there is a law on the books that you break on that public road and it's caught on camera...then you should pay the price. The right to privacy simply doesn't exist on a public road.

I'm also looking at this from the following viewpoint: How many worthless laws are out there on the books, that sound good on paper, but in reality, are worthless because it's impossible to enforce them. What if it was possible to enforce these laws BECAUSE of cameras everywhere?

In addition...why is it OK to police the police by filming them with our smartphones to ensure that they are doing their job properly, but it's not ok to film a reckless driver, endangering innocent lives out of this mis-placed desire of privacy?
