Lack of flexibility, perhaps, but exceeding your sales projections by so much you can't keep up and have to outsource from competitors could be a genius (or moronic if it backfires) marketing move....if Tesla power packs outperform ones purchased from competitors in an apples to apples comparison (but one designed to favor Tesla from the start because they are in Tesla cars, optimized for Tesla batteries), they end up selling exponentially more when the new factories catch up and make a surplus. Worth it if in 5 years competitors all start buying from him.

wtfcaniuse said:

Not being able to produce enough batteries for your own products would suggest issues in management, production and scope. Having to increase component supply from what are essentially competitors for several years in order to meet demand isn't really a good thing IMO.

Tesla China - Shanghai Gigafactory production line

bobknight33 says...

Tesla is a good buy today even at 52 week highs. There is a growth path forward in which new factories are coming on line
Giga
Shanghai
Berlin
Texas

+ Giga Nevada battery factory adding lines.

Limiting factor is battery. Battery day should lay out the path forward.

Tesla is profitable , last 4 quarters, and believe this will continue.

I am looking long term. Min 5 years to 10 years.
I am looking for production to double approx every year.

600k this year goal
1.2mil min goal next year
2.4mil + in 3 rd year.

I've posted the 2020 NC transportation outlook on the Sift. It is really worth a look.

Also any one interested should look at Kathy Wood of ARC investment. Just look for her on you tube.
This is ARC investment link
https://ark-invest.com/analyst-research/tesla-price-target/

Sandy Monroe ( you tube) tore down a 2012 and a 2020 model and was astonished at not only in improvements but absolutely astonished in the technology lead of the produce. His group does this and sell reports to all. Evey Asian and Europe atuo manufacture has bought his report. Not 1 American Auto maker has.

Ford, GM are far behind.

Every ICE maker ( ICE Internal Combustion Engine) will have to not only continue that investment and also invest in EV. Dont think they have enough Research investment dollars on hand to do both.

Musk is a visionary Just look at what he is doing besides cars.

Space X . Few step into the space race and succeed like Musk.

Boring company . Fed up with traffic jams he look for solutions. Looked at boring machines and found then to be 15 times slower than a snail. Got a team together and designed a boring machine 15 times faster.

Supplemental storage energy for peak energy demands.

Solar panels. Redesigned and lower cost of ownership.

Musk salary /bonus ties to achievement goals, not just a set amount.

This a BUY time.
This is like buying Apple when Steve Jobs came back to Apple.

Over valuation is what people see Tesla to be worth.
Market forces, Technological improvements and Government regulations will push EV market to forefront over the next decade. There is no stopping this.

Bob, and I mean this with all seriousness, SELL!! The over-valuation is so fucking crazy on TSLA right now that it makes the Dot-Com look like Berkshire Hathaway.

The Price of Keeping Our Heads Down

timtoner says...

If it was only Chauvin, I agree, the problem would not be so profound. But it wasn't. It was eight other cops who looked away. We need to know that the watchmen will watch the watchmen. Patently, they don't. Until they do, the one rotten apple will make the barrel rot.

Jesusismypilot said:

That's not what putting your head down means. And Floyd wasn't murdered by police, he was murdered by Chauvin. It's too bad that working hard is so disparaged now.

Good point....but there's also the fact that it wasn't unevenly applied, he's comparing apples and durian fruit. ^

Also, I guess their position is that this means any company that won't allow Bye Don 2020 hats at work needs to burn, right? My Pillow, I'm looking at you.

Free Speech Considered Support for Nazism

newtboy says...

Don't pretend to be so oblivious.
The gallery is one person making decisions on who to allow to hold private rallies in secret at her establishment, and she chooses Nazis and white power personalities. I thought you support taking individual responsibility.
The Nation of Islam, and I'm no fan at all, is a huge, multinational organization of millions I assume lead by some form of committee and encompassing a wide range of views and opposing extremes....They did not all choose to be associated with that one extremists nor did they all agree with him by far, then or now, only some did. That's similar to the same question but changing "nation of Islam" to "America". Obviously that's comparing apples to the president's drag queen makeup.

I won't comment much on Canada blm because I don't know them and don't choose to take the time needed to sleuth out some truths about them, but assuming what you say is correct it sounds like they have some racism in their midst that they should weed out before they become the monster they wish to destroy.

Brett Stevens, did you read any of the links? Or my quotes from them? Did you visit America.com, his website, or his blog amerika? (i won't) Do you have a clue who he is and the racist mass murderer he celebrates?

They have a right to speak, the crowd has a right to protest and take any civil legal action they choose to remove the soapbox from their neighborhood. I never said different. You must have confused me with the protesters.
They don't have a right to shout or hold their signs emblazoned with their stupid wrong things intended to provoke at a protest and attempt to spark violence, even if they cleverly camouflage it so on the surface their message seems agreeable, which is what I think was his intent. If successful, he would gain more fuel for the argument that the racists and Nazis planning a violent race war aren't the problem, it's the fascist liberal grandma shovers and sign thieves we should really be worried about....just like the boogaloos in America that caused many if not most of the riots, shot cops, and planned multiple mass murders and bombings all of which they intended to pin on blm.

They don't actually need any place to speak today, there's a soapbox in every cellphone.

But

This facility was holding their alt-right events in secret, hiding their speech itself. They wanted it hidden. You can't bemoan their voices being silenced while also defending their secret rallies which no one who might confront or correct them was told happened, can you?

And side note
The government isn't stopping them, so it's not censorship before that idea crops up.

Again, your bar for crying violence in this instance is subterranean. No one would ever be prosecuted for the level of violence without injury that he suffered, nor compensated for his miniscule loss of cardboard. Do you see him hit, kicked, punched, shoved hard, anything? Time stamp please. I'll change my tune if he was actually injured, I didn't see it anywhere, just his sign yanked after being slowly shoved away from one specific spot.

Could you honestly say ANY right wing event, especially any alt-right event infiltrated by a fairly quiet blm activist with a sign bemoaning police corruption would be as gentle and non violent? Edit: I doubt it.

The point of this video as presented is to pretend that's the case, that the shove from grandma is societies downfall, a direct attack on freedom not a rejection of a defender and facilitator of racists and Nazis (if he's not one himself). The Nazis and racists resurfacing and arming themselves (happening here in America) are nothing to be upset about or oppose....they're good people, not like disgusting anti free speech granny and those other freedom haters.
I'm astonished I'm apparently the only one willing to object to that long ago debbunked distortion of reality.

LA Coroner Defies Sheriff, Releases Andres Guardado Autopsy

vil says...

Its not about the apples.

The institution itself has to be set up so that it drops bad apples and keeps and rewards good ones.

Also there seem to be too many similar institutions, none of them caring for their apples properly. Even if an apple does drop it can climb right back into another tree. Unless it has a reputation of being a troublesome apple. Like one that snitches on other apples.

LA Coroner Defies Sheriff, Releases Andres Guardado Autopsy

cloudballoon says...

I find the argument that a good apple shouldn't even be in the policing business (i.e. guilt by association) problematic. My argument would be: If I'm a good apple, I'd be all for reforming and fumigating out all the bad apples! Bad apples don't deserve to tarnish my good reputation nor my silence (i.e. as good as complicity), ESPECIALLY since there are -- ahem -- "only 0.01%" of them in the force! Isn't that the logical and moral sentiment?

My concern about focusing the debate on the ratio of "Good apples vs. bad apples" is that it's fraught with pitfalls. Without "big data" (because the System won't ever allows such transparency), that "ratio" is subjective. It's just an excuse for politicians and legislators to wiggle out doing anything.

The argument should be that a fair, just and functioning society should punish each and every bad apples to protect the good apples and its citizens. We shouldn't tolerate any bad apples, no matter the "ratio"... police depts & judges SHOULD be exemplary in their knowledge and adherent to the law, NOT the other way around. How else should a people trust its government?

Besides, if what they say is true -- that the "bad apples are few and far between" -- there shouldn't be much consequence to prosecute them all right? It must be worth reforming to salvage the far-to-damaged reputation right? It would be a moral booster for BOTH the police & community IMO.

BLACKS AGAINST BLACK LIVES MATTER

newtboy says...

This video is for anyone who claims blacks can't be racist....just find one who's a republican and prove yourself wrong. Fortunately that was only 8% of them 4 years ago, likely <1/2 that today.
So dishonest @bobknight33 , this is a few self loathing individuals, not the black community. A few bad apples. Not uncle Toms, but uncle Ruckuses.

It's also chock full of *lies like the claim that only blacks are killing blacks, never whites.

Not worth my time, I won't watch enough of this drivel to justify casting a downvote.
