Jon Stewart | Problem With War: Burn Pits and Sick Veterans

cloudballoon says...

While I don't necessarily crave for his old comedy routine from himself anymore -- I've got enough of that from TDS vets like Noah, Bee, Colbert as well as Meyers -- I desperately want his kind of sharp questions posed to his interviewees, with or without the laughs. This 1st episode didn't deliver that, and so its quality isn't above the other shows. I hope it gets better, it CAN get much better.

I noticed a few years after he left The Daily Show he seems to smile less, almost like he's burnt out. When he goes on other talk shows now it's like he's over the comedy routine or just not really engaged. Lost his spark or something. I noticed the same thing with Carlin in his later years.

News of the day-
"We build the wall", Steve Bannon's fraudulent"charity" started to privately fund Trump's border wall, is out of money and can't pay it's defense lawyers.
To remind you, we build the wall took in over $25 million in donations to build some fencing with the promise that all the money would go to construction, no one was getting a salary, and spent nearly $5 million on building a short, poorly built section, much of which has already fallen over.
Where's the other $20 million!? Kind of a problem that they say it's gone, because that's what they're being charged with, misappropriation of the donations....and since Bannon took a pardon, he's already legally admitted they stole the money, and Bannon cannot plead the fifth and must admit under oath how the scheme worked and who stole the rest of the money.

Not a good time for them to lose their legal team. It's so satisfying to watch as Trump's criminal empire comes crumbling down and so many of his supporters lose everything including their reputations, money, and freedom. Must be a scary time for you....hope you didn't put your money where your mouth is or they may be looking at you soon. D'oh!

Free choice? Do I have that too? I would readily swap free choice for free will any time of the day.

I choose this https://www.cprclassic.com/ for starters. After breakfast I might come up with more choices.

Free will is cumbersome, you have to do things and think about consequences and so on. Free choice FTW!

Come on Bob. We all know why you posted this particular Karen video. We know why you think these particular people are so disrespectful.
It's the same reason you repeatedly lie and claim 99% of crimes against black people is black on black crime.

Just say it, Bob. It's because they're black, and so they have no morals, no self control, and are all violent criminals. Everyone who knows you knows that's what you think. Just admit it. Grow a pair.

Why is that even a question?

bcglorf says...

The problem is, it's complicated.

First off, is the legacy of historical damage still scarring aboriginal communities in Canada.

Even disregarding that complexity though, current structure of governance in Canada makes the problem harder to identify and resolve.

Singh's return question is what would you do if Toronto faced the same problem? The answer is the federal government would by and large do nothing, because water supply is a municipal responsibility and the Mayor and city council of Toronto are responsible for fixing it, and thus federal funds don't go in and instead municipal tax money is used to keep the water supply going. Across Canada that model is working pretty decently, by and large.

The real question then is why are reserves having a harder time? Well, afore mentioned historical trauma aside, reserves represent small communities directly comparable in size and make up as municipal communities. However, the reserves are NOT managed like municipalities. Instead Canada still has a two tiered system of governance, one for reserves and another for municipalities.

In term so governance municipalities report to the provinces and the provinces report to the federal government. Reserves report directly to the federal government.

The affects everything related to governance and is responsible for a host of confusion and difficulty.

Services: Education and Health are provincially funded, and so the federal government transfer money to the provinces and tells them to figure out education and health services. Municipalities then just get those services. Reserves however sit outside that, and get entirely different intermediaries.

Taxation and funding: municipal, provincial and federal governments all gather taxes and distribute funds up and down. Reserves only deal with funding though directly to the feds, again cutting out the provincial intermediary.

Both of the above mean making an apples to apples comparison of communities to try and ensure both are treated 'equally' is impossible. It also means that solutions that work on one side don't in the other.

It's a big mess, and just throwing money at the system and saying that will fix it is just wrong. Not only that, it's been TRIED and failed. The above mentioned differences also apply to rules surrounding transparency, accountability and fraud prevention. Meaning there are a great many more loopholes available on the reserve funding side for anyone involved or attached to providing services(be that council members on reserve, or any number of external entities hired in good faith to perform services). That in turn means the amount of money lost to direct and indirect corruption is harder to find/stop.

So fix all that is the next obvious response. The problem is still complex though because when does 'fixing' becoming simply white folks making aboriginals do things the 'right(white) way that was already the source of lingering historical damage I didn't even consider yet...

It's a hard problem to solve and Singh's just trying to score cheap political points peddling easy and false answers to a complex problem.

Neil Armstrong's Last Words On The Moon-

When Apollo Mission Astronaut Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he not only gave his famous “One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind” statement, but followed it by several remarks, including the usual COM traffic between him, the other astronauts, and Mission Control. Before he re-entered the lander, he made the enigmatic remark “Good luck, Mr. Gorsky.”Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon checking, [they found] there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American space programs.

Over the years, many people have questioned him as to what the “Good luck, Mr. Gorsky” statement meant. On July 5, in Tampa Bay, FL, while answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26- year-old question to Armstrong. He finally responded. It seems that Mr. Gorsky had died and so Armstrong felt he could answer the question. When he was a kid, Neil was playing baseball with his brother in the backyard. His brother hit a fly ball which landed in front of his neighbors’ bedroom window. The neighbors were Mr. and Mrs. Gorsky. As he leaned down to pick up the ball, he heard Mrs. Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky, “Oral sex? Oral sex you want? You’ll get oral sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!”

My guess is because there's only one set of seals in the case, not a second set for the "piston", and so there's no seal to seal scraping. The smooth shape of the "piston" and lack of corners should minimize wear.

Golfing: Trump vs Biden.

newtboy says...

When you spend >2/5 of your presidency playing golf, and own multiple courses, you should be good at it......yet, Trump is a historical loser at golf, cheating every game, even against non golfers, playing terribly, and still doesn't even know the rules. He's like a two year old on the course, allowed to cheat because it's so obvious to all that he couldn't ever sink a ball otherwise (most courses have a maximum number of hits before you are supposed to walk off the hole) and no one wants to see another Trump temper tantrum over nothing.

Such a mush brained moron you are. Every single person who's ever played golf with Trump was astonished with the level of cheating he does. It's well documented, well known, and so ridiculous from a club owner, it only makes him unbelievably insecure.
You don't see Trump doing this for a few reasons, mostly because he (or his cheat tool/caddy) would have tossed the ball onto the green and not counted a stroke....then driven onto the green to fail at putting. There's a reason Trump wouldn't let the press film him play.

You really love looking like a delusional moron for Trump, don't you? Dominion is coming for you, better donate everything to Trump's defense lawyers before they take it all.

You might want to look up Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman....the guys who hired the young guy to claim he had an affair with Elizabeth Warren....they've got over 15 felony cases for election fraud pending for their racist republican ploy of robocalling black neighborhoods and lying, claiming that if you vote by mail, all your personal information will be forwarded to police to see if you have warrants, to collection agencies to see if you have debts, to any agencies or groups that might want their personal information for anything. Of course, all bullshit, and thankfully a felony in at least 15 of the states they did it in.

More Republican election fraud, verified and charged, while you morons look for bamboo fibers on ballots because you're so moronic you believe the lies that China just sent boxes of ballots that were counted as real....and so stupidly racist you believe that anything from China will be covered in bamboo, and anything with traces of bamboo must be from China (like it doesn't grow in America).

Also look up Bruce Bartman, sentenced recently for registering his dead relatives to vote and trying to vote using their ballots. More voter fraud, again Republican voter fraud.

Daily the overwhelming evidence of republican fraud campaigns are coming to light. Still not a single democratic voter fraud case. Your party of criminals is being exposed without Trump and Barr to shield them. It's not going to go well for you guys.

Enjoy.

Pike County Sheriffs Beat And Mace Man In Restraint Chair

newtboy says...

Lol. See that peacock logo on the video?
Or are you saying unless every network shows it on their prime time national broadcast news show, it wasn't covered. I found reporting from ABC, NBC, CBS, VICE, even Fox (but not Faux news). I bet CNN had coverage too, but they aren't easy to search. Even if it didn't make the prime time broadcast, these networks all have late night national broadcasts that use local affiliate clips like this to fill the time.

If that's your position I guess that means there is no right wing/"conservative" news at all then, there is no nationally broadcast right wing channel, nor is there any right wing NEWS at all, only what they admit in court is ignorant biased baseless unbelievable hyperbolic uninformed opinion they call news but only morons could possibly believe it, and there are only basic cable networks.

Yes, punching someone in the head a dozen times with full force of a 250-300 lb man so hard it breaks his hand, with the victim restrained so they can't defend themselves is attempted murder. Pepper spraying a restrained man, letting him topple over to the concrete, and letting him gasp for breath for well over 10 minutes, tightly restrained on his back with no assistance, never checking on him while he's possibly aspirating or concussed from the fall, definitely struggling for air is attempted murder.

If the tables were turned and the cop was the victim, you would see at least 13 attempted murders, one for each punch and at least one for the mace to the face, and say every single one justifies killing the perpetrator. You are so transparent and hypocritical.

How do I know what?

Oh....you think? But let me guess, the guy had it coming for not submissively complying, and that justifies the cop going too far on four separate occasions....he should have immunity, civil and criminal, and so should the sheriff office.
Too bad so sad for the victim....right?

🤦‍♂️
