Man saws his AR15 in half in support of gun control
I don't really have a problem with owning guns and it's certainly not "all or nothing".
My issue with the gun arguments in the states is that they're asking the wrong questions. The problem isn't the guns, it's why you seem to think you need them.
No other developed nation has this issue. The rest of the world all have guns, we're just responsible with them. We're ok with reasonable legislation and we don't have a lunatic fringe screaming about tyranny if we can't own assault rifles.
Most importantly, no civilised country thinks you need a gun for self-defence. A) we have police for that and b) most of us just aren't afraid that someone is coming to kill us... because they aren't.
I don't think there's an easy fix to America's gun problems. Fundamentally I think the issue is cultural rather than regulatory, but honestly, at this stage, you're like a bunch of kids, who need their toys taken off them until they can prove they're mature enough to use them properly.
If someone is an alcoholic, the most important thing isn't taking the booze away, it's getting them to admit there's a problem. But sometimes, you need to take the booze away long enough for them to sober up and admit there's a problem.
All good points, but that's another problem.
I don't think the vast majority of gun owners have government overthrowing in mind when purchasing guns anyway.
Why can't I own bombs & shoulder mounted firing rockets? That's because governments are sensibly enough to think these weapons don't belong in the public.
Should that bar for publicly-available weapons set above or below these AR-15 type assault rifles? I think that's the legitimate discussion. It's not "all or nothing."
QUAKE: Forefather of the Online Deathmatch-LORE in a Minute
Me too! Diamond Monster 3D. I remember GLquake and QuakeWorld. Wow. And then a Creative Labs 3D Blaster and on. http://zimage.com/~ant/antfarm/about/toys.html for my history.
I got a 4mb Voodoo 1 passthrough card when they first came out and to this day still think it was the most "holy shit!" game changer I have ever seen. 800x600 using Glide was unreal. I also had a GF 256 and while it certainly smoked the Voodoos in performance, the difference between software rendering and the Glide API was mindblowing.
The Engineering of the Drinking Bird
These toys didn't work well in Houston in the summer, this is a *quality explanation of the *science involved
The Engineering of the Drinking Bird
When I was in high school, my 11th grade science teacher challenged us for extra credit to explain how the drinking bird worked. My stepmother was a teacher at another school so she hooked me up with their science teachers. Three of them could not explain this toy. The closest they came was Boyle's law. I never got that extra credit, and no one else did either. Damn bird.
channel 4 trainwreck interview with jordan peterson
I don't wanna grow up, I'm a toys R us kid.
I've gotta say, people have vastly varied ideas what 'growing up' means.
Adopting responsibility can happen in childhood....some of us are raised that way.
Women are at least as good at being irresponsible children as men, perhaps they are infantile about it less often. I think he needs better data.
Women at my wife's job are paid less than men. Women with 10+ years experience and seniority are paid the same as entry level men with zero experience, but entry level women are not paid the same. There is no other factor, these new men haven't shown their skills or personality at all when they get hired at the same pay rate as their established, competent boss.
My experience differs from his gender conclusions at every turn, and I found his estimations of women horrendously dismissive and wrong.
Physical conflict is off limits to women? Somebody better tell Rousey.
The market doesn't define positions, the boss does. If a position has certain responsibilities, it's the same job no matter who's doing it. It doesn't become a lesser job because the employee has no penis.
There's actually plenty of evidence that treating workers with respect and empathy is beneficial to both retention and work quality. He's flat wrong on that.
She's totally wrong to imply a right to not be uncomfortable for anyone. No one has that right. She's also a fairly bad interviewer.

The Toys That Made Us -- Netflix
I've watched the Star Wars episode, and the He-Man one.
I skipped Barbie, and haven't seen the GI Joe episode. those are so far the only 4 episodes posted, I'm waiting for others.
Kind of a fun look into the creators of the toys.
On Netflx in Canada, there is also a documentary on Spin Masters, the creators of Air Hogs and Bakugon. Also a good watch.
Dashcam Video Of Alabama Cop Who Shot Man Holding His Wallet
Wallets, and cell phones, hair brushes, glasses cases, envelopes, small boxes, sticks, juice boxes, seat belts, toy trucks, cigarettes, cigars .....pretty much anything you can hold in your hand.
A better idea is just ban hands. No hands, you know there's no gun in their hands, problem solved. Then you don't even have to touch the second amendment to end gun violence, guns are pretty safe without fingers.
Glad that issue is resolved.
Maybe the US should ban wallets, easier than banning guns at least.
Why E=mc² is wrong
I was taught that E=(+-)MC2. (This implies antimatter)
I'm disappointed he wasn't totally clear that all he was doing was adding kinetic energy to the base equation. Of course that adds energy to the system, but the base equation is about mass/energy (how much total energy a certain resting mass contains) not all energy. Heat the mass, you need another equation. Make it radioactive, another.
Also, maybe it's been proven wrong by now, but I recall experiments showing photons do have at least a pseudo mass, proven by their ability to move objects (like the spinning black and white squares inside a vacuum toy and theoretical solar sails).

This Kid Will Have Trust Issues
I don't see what's wrong with that toy.
Free gifts
I once, as a teenager, almost beat up a 12 year old because he took some toys from my 5 year old nephew on the legal grounds of "he said I could have them".
The Only Handheld Printer You'll Ever Need
That's damn cool.
