The world's most beautiful sustainable font

Irony: man creates font to save ink. Posts video about it. Millions of people print an unnecessary document to see what it looks like

Sad man doesn't understand the problem... There are plenty of ways to save ink and use less packaging, but it doesn't matter because the ink/printer companies would just put less in the cartridge. He'd be far better off telling people about toner sensor hacks and refills than creating a hard to read font that strokes his own ego.

I think the point is that the font should be printed to fully take form as the ink fills the channels - not suitable for screen reading.

I had trouble reading the url at the end. I would like to see studies to ensure me that this font is just as readable as a fully-filled font. I have my doubts. But it IS a slick font and kinda beautiful in single servings...

Naw, I think his bubble is still intact; check out 1:15 where they briefly compare using less ink on a standard font. I can't imagine someone that knowledgeable would be completely ignorant of all the existing ways to save ink.

Maybe this new approach of trying to create small ink channels rather than dithering could be farmed out to an algorithm, but who knows if it would create something pretty as well as functional.

Of course, I don't know if he succeeded, they kept showing what it looks like on a computer screen, not the intended look once the lines bleed together.

So, let's all download it and see what we think compared to draft quality. It's free.

P.S. Good point about continuous ink systems and refillable cartridges. Fuck proprietary disposable ones.

I'd hate to burst his bubble, but this "eco" mode could be done (maybe it is already?) programmatically for ALL FONTS.

And words already take up very small percentage of coverage on your average sheet of paper. So saving 33% of 5% isn't that much.

Yes, it's an artistic font, but you do much more to save the planet by buying hax0red printers with huge user-refillable ink storage.

It's still a 33% saving on ink though. I don't see how the percentage of the page covered in ink is relevant. By your logic a 100% saving in ink would still "only" be 5% of the page?

I think the point is that there are opportunities to think about improving efficiency in all professions, and that these saving needn't necessarily come at the expense of quality. In fact, the inspiration to create something more efficient may actually lead to a pleasing aesthetic.

Who is Dependent on Welfare

RedSky says...

US tax redistribution is greatest by absolute volume from the middle class to the middle class, although the per person benefits the wealthier get through subsidies and deductions are higher.

The issue is, a lot of them are not explicitly specified and are not large programmes but form various subsidies already built into prices such as the Home Mortgage Interest Deduction.

Comparing to Australia, the actual tax take is 25% of GDP for both, yet the expenditure is roughly 40% for the US and 35% for AU, despite the fact we both have a generous welfare which doesn't expire and a public health care system.

THIS SITE IS A JOKE (Comedy Talk Post)

chingalera says...

The sites a joke for reasons other than this user has chimed-in without understanding the jyst of 'reading anything before purchasing:' Here's a short list:

Hypocrisy/Double standards: Popularity fuels status through brown-nosing and robotic insincerity garners votes rather than content quality prompting the same.

Most people are afraid to cast a down-vote for content rather, they do it when they don't 'like' someone. Petty, pussified, and worthlessly dishonest.

Others, users with nothing better to do than to single out another for divisive abuse when his/her opinion or message doesn't jibe with their cloistered or developmentally-disabled world view, push the envelope with sophomoric rambling or graffiti in the form of retarded commentary on profiles or blatant rule-breaking while admins turn a lazy blind,or otherwise complicate eye....Seek professional help or leave the house every once in a while....Works wonders, kids.

Cocksuckers-by-choice, continue to bring the overall quality of the site down with inane ink-well-dipping and hair-pulling or other wise goading for example, Christians, those with conservative-leaning sensibilities, or constructive-critics, enough so that they stop contributing altogether, lurk, or disappear.

From time-to-time, it has been the job of the strongest-willed and long-suffering,to gently guide these users up the pathway upwards and into their own asses rather than enjoy the place and make whoopee with great content....

Yeah mygamesarefun, don't care if you joined by mistake or were simply dull, there is indeed an air of douche here that's entrenched which continually befouls the collective spirit of community.

Won't name names on my list, cocksuckers-by-choice have mirrors on walls in their funk-caves, down the hall from their game-controllers and pizza-stained and blistered microwaves, as well as the lavatories at their shit jobs or in their fucking mother's basement....Any doubts? Just look at the banter above and save your fucking money.

Oh and.....Have a NICE day.

(cue comment down-votes, and fuck-off.)

Yogi, that sir is more typing on a single video embed than I believe you have EVER taken the time to spew. Congratulations. You are hereby awarded the Choggie Kendall Long-Winded Inner-Direction Award For Self-Indulgence and Foment.

You sir join the ranks this month bringing the total of 5 who have been inducted into this hall of shame, including one of our newest and most loquacious of newer members, forgive us if we don't name any names, for it really ain't worth the key-strokes nor the wearing-down of ink delineating the alphabet on each cheap plastic button, to do so....

Canada creates Gayest video ever

shatterdrose says...

It's called shaming. Look it up. And yes, it does work. Matter of fact, psychologically, it's one of the surest ways to endure behavior. Unfortunately, we've lost that in America with teachers barred from using red ink, giving bad grades and every little league athlete getting an award.

When 90% of the worlds population is making fun of you, you begin to rethink your stance. And conversely, it's the same tactic bullies use but only in a negative way. As you said, "human nature" is to conform with a little room for individualism. People want to fit into the crowd, and when you're the only one gay-bashing, you stand out in a very negative way when everyone is either ignoring you or calling you an idiot.

(Not to mention, ads like this cause those of us who support gay rights to cheer louder thus making it harder for those beating up LGBT's to get away with their acts feeling like they did the whim of society. It's called Mob Behavior. It's also very human . . .)

A10anis said:

You seem to have, inadvertently, illustrated my misgivings about the ad. If you honestly believe that, metaphorically, "slapping someone in the face," or calling them a "dumbass" is likely to get them to change their opinion, you know little of human nature. Personally, were I "gay" and a participant in the games, I would, like Jesse Owens, respond to the ignorance with a dignified silence, and let my abilities talk for me. Rhetoric, such as yours, and rather pointless ads, simply inflame the situation.
