Let's talk about Trump going to the hospital....

bcglorf says...

@newtboy
-Including race as a determining factor in your admission score
as a 'liberal' ideal
This IS happening broadly, link to how and arguments for why it is 'good'
https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2019/10/03/harvard-beat-an-effort-end-its-use-race-factor-admissions-what-will-supreme-court-do/
https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/race/news/2019/10/01/471085/5-reasons-support-affirmative-action-college-admissions/

-Enforcement of a race based "day of absence" where based on your race you were to be 'kicked off' campus for the day
Specifically the day of absence was at evergreen:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergreen_State_College#2017_protests
Similarly reverse racist attitudes though are common enough, like chasing out a student journalist here for simply covering an event:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kVGtqp7usw

-"deplatforming" people for having dissenting opinions
Jordan Peterson is the biggest example, but my local uni has also banned pro-life student clubs too, so maybe I'm a little Canada biased on this?

-The entire circle-jerk of intersectionalism:
---"whiteness" needs to be defined as something inherently negative
Here's the Standford course on it if you or your parents wanna enrol:
https://explorecourses.stanford.edu/search?view=catalog&filter-coursestatus-Active=on&page=0&catalog=&q=CSRE+32SI%3A+Whiteness&collapse=

---"Racism" needs to redefined as not simply racial prejudice, but racial prejudice PLUS power(you know, so only white people can be racist under the new definition)
Likewise offered at Stanford, unless this is the lone critical race theory course that doesn't champion the above prejudice+power definition.
https://law.stanford.edu/courses/critical-race-theory/

---"systemic racism" getting defined as anything with unequal outcomes, so if asian students do too well in math it must mean the system is favouring them and we need to step in

And I'm out of time,

but seriously I'm a little baffled this was remotely controversial? Identity politics is a game the left has been playing at HARD for at minimum the decades since Affirmative Action was launched. The notion that the idea would eventually get national level push back should have been easy to see coming.

Time to review user ratings? (Internet Talk Post)

lucky760 says...

Yeah, supporting more hosts would be great.

I wonder if TikTok and Twitter embeds are embeddable. No clue.

I don't know about capping video length though because some users don't want to watch them, as others do. IIRC we have the ability to filter out long videos. Have you given that a try?

Mordhaus said:

Would be nice to be able to embed tik tok and twitter vids. A lot of the time I have to look for ages or wait a week or two for someone to post a youtube version of the content.

Another suggestion would be to put a cap on video length. I am not usually going to watch a video over 20 minutes long, which means I can't vote on it.

How Nestle Makes Billions Bottling Free Water

Mystic95Z says...

Yep, while there are times for having bottled water like being on an outing or something, when I'm at home the water thats filtered and comes out of my fridge ice cold is more than fine.

But yeah Nestle should PAY for all water pumped just like every household that uses water does. This is just corporate welfare at its finest.

The problem isnt Nestle making money off free water. The problem is lazy shits providing them with a market for it.

How Nestle Makes Billions Bottling Free Water

newtboy says...

TL:DW....I think bottled water has always been a scam.

I can count the number of disposable water bottles I've purchased in my lifetime on one hand. I don't understand why people buy them regularly.
Get a good filter and stainless steel bottle and stop tossing out plastic.

Why They want to REPLACE YOU

JiggaJonson says...

I like how during the description of a sociopath who has no feelings for other human beings and no sympathy for them images of Hillary Clinton in some distorted VHS CRT filter appear on screen.

Because only the most sociopathic among us tries to get healthcare for every American: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinton_health_care_plan_of_1993

I'm actually about sick of arguing with people like you, It's like talking to an anti-vaccination person.

Well, I hope you get a metaphoric version of measles and get a re-education through experience.

1. Even though I definitively know the world is beyond fucked at this point, I still think the scientists are not doing themselves any favours by making these "probably" scenarios rather than almost definite ones. As said, even though in some ways I'm looking forward to when the shit starts hitting the fan, I've lost faith in knowing when it'll actually start happening. It seems like every other week I'm told that "soon it'll really start to go all to shit". And it never really does, especially for 1st world countries.

2. Great Filter, Humanity. Humanity, Great Filter. Nice to meet you.

3. I'm beginning to want to start a pot of which terrible thing will happen first to 1st world countries (sadly, the beginning will be poor countries getting fucked and 1st world countries complaining that it now costs $30 for a single banana). Super bugs and catastrophic pandemics (maybe measles!)? Climate change? Nuclear war? Massive migrations of refugees who can't live where they are due to climate change or war? Water shortages? Wealth inequality that will implode on itself? There are so many terrible things on the precipice of happening that I don't even know what I'd bet on, honestly.

Close, but reversed.

Ideas that display both pass the test.

Counting Trump's False Claims Using Gumballs

newtboy says...

Bob.
Lie about Trump all you want, don't lie about me....you know full well that is a lie.
I've never once tuned my tv to CNN, as I've told you a dozen times.
I use multiple sources cross referenced to determine what I think is fact, CNN often provides decent short clips on youtube that illustrate the point succinctly and or clearly but are not my "trusted news source" as you well know....
....but you implicitly trust the biggest liar and fraud of our time without a critical thought. I bet you heard Trump say "Tim Cook Apple", or whatever he's claiming he said today, didn't you?
Don't dare try to impeach my information gathering and filtering skills when you are....well...you.

And the numbers aren't from CNN, only the visual depiction of the independently verified fact check numbers. *facepalm

Groundhog Day For A Black Man

newtboy says...

You got it right, that's the agenda as I see it, make racism seem so outrageous and pervasive that people act....but only white on black racism exists or matters in that agenda. If you have such a biased, racist agenda, it detracts from the message that racism is bad and makes you sound ignorant.
Yeah....he argued once that he believes in racist faucets as a real issue of institutional racism, not a function of physics, even when it was explained scientifically....but I sound ignorant.
And through the filter of that agenda any white vs black interaction that's not the white person kissing ass is obviously pure racial malice and bias, and the only possible explanation is because all white people are overtly racist....and I sound ignorant.
And outright lies are fine with that agenda, including 100% bullshit stories like the one about racist gangs kidnapping a kid that obviously never happened, and dozens of others that are never corrected when debunked...and I sound ignorant.
I've posted dozens and dozens of videos about racism, but I do it because I think it's a real problem not dog poo I get to shove someone's nose in, so I'm careful to not equate bullshit, lies, exaggeration, hyperbole, and other falsehoods with it, because that gives racists ammunition to "prove" racism is dead and only alive in some people's minds and agendas, and a license to ignore true stories of real racism as more of the same. Doing THAT is ignorant and harmful.
That's true no matter what the agenda is, and is especially misguided and ill advised when it's about something important.
*facepalm

mborchew said:

Whats the agenda? Magnify the racist society he lives in? God forbid white people look in the mirror, right? You sound ignorant.

Science Moms

ChaosEngine says...

@navlasop that's part of the problem.

For example, there is no doubt that pharmaceutical companies engage in some EXTREMELY shady shit. But when someone screams that vaccines are evil and "big pharma" is hiding the cure for cancer, it becomes difficult to discern the genuine issues (evergreening, etc) from the noise.

"Chem trails!
Global Warming!
9/11 was an inside job!
Aliens at Roswell!"

One of those is a real and serious problem, but if it gets lumped in with the orders, it becomes easy to dismiss it as nonsense.

We need to get better as a society at filtering the signal from the noise.

Groundhog Day For A Black Man

newtboy says...

I fully agree. There's obviously an agenda, which I find boring, and no filter for obvious fake stories or misrepresentation (not saying that's the case here, I didn't watch this post) which I see as lying to support that agenda. I hate that, no matter what the topic. It's an admission that they need to lie and exaggerate because the truth just isn't bad enough to make their point.
I hate lies and liars with a passion.

My solution, just ignore any video he posts with a "racism" or "institutional racism" tag or a 'look at this racism' title, don't even view it, forget voting for it, that only encourages the behavior. Well over 1/2 of them are at best misrepresentations of fact, bending over backwards to make everything, from being called out for rudely breaking the law (bbq Becky, watergirl) to basic physics (racist faucets), racist.
There's been far too much crying wolf for me to believe he even sees dogs, and the more he cries, the less I believe wolves still exist....particularly sad since I was a sheep dog on the lookout for wolves before he came along.

I still gladly view and vote for videos he posts on other topics.

Sagemind said:

@C-note

Do you only post racial videos which features injustice?
Because if you spend your life looking for something, that's all you'll ever see.

You need to broaden your prospects. I understand there are racial bias and prejudice people out there but you seem to hyper-focus on it. You invite your life to be surrounded by these bad energies.

I'd love to see you more positive. I don't know what wrongs this world has served you personally, or if you just surround yourself in these issues, but sometimes, the best way to free yourself from these issues is to not see them in everything you see and do.
