Holy Helicopter?
This guy has a helicopter, and asks for an upgrade, meanwhile the new Pope drives a Ford Focus?
I hope they lose a lot of parishioners over this.
Bill Burr Teaches Elijah Wood How To Kill
"This stuff just does not happen"
Wake up. Spend 2 minutes looking for reports by the Toronto Star, CBC and the Globe and Mail and you'll realize it does. An issue in Canada is that if you wish to protect yourself, and use a gun, chances are better that the victim will suffer the wrath of Canadian justice.

It happens in Canada dude. Take a look around.
I almost want to invoke *regio n... This is totally nuts. Seriously, is this what people in America worry about? Is this... possible? I guess these are plausible scenarios but in Canada... this stuff just does not happen...

Global warming or unicorns? Which do you believe in?
In the spirit of Godwin, I propose a new internet law that describes the inevitability of the MSNBC false equivalency whenever a comment or topic criticizes FOX news.
I love ya, choggie, and VS is way better and more interesting with you here, but this dog just don't hunt.
I think the days of intrepid journalism are largely over for most of the news sources you mentioned, but there still are pockets of resistance to the inanity that passes as news in America. Regardless of whichever political ideolgy you most identify with, you cannot dismiss MSNBC as opposite but equal to FOX. MSNBC is most definitely liberal/progressive, but they wear it on their sleeve, and their spin is backed by facts and reality. FOX spins everything, and completely misinforms it's
viewersfans by simply making shit up, not to mention the ubiquitous fear-mongering, the subliminal programming of their crawl, the always-angry, paranoid, petty, spiteful, and shrill talking heads, and the daily memo'd bullet points that are regurgitated verbatim and hammered into the brains of their veiwers all day long from show to show. The dolts on FOX and Friends have got to be the three DUMBEST people ever to thousand-yard stare into a camera. FOX is "news entertainment" at best. There are infinite shades of gray between black and white, and MSNBC is definitely biased, but you can't say it isn't factual (the vast majority of time). If there was a true "equal but opposite" version of MSNBC, I would watch it. Unfortunately, FOX serves only as a source of amusement for me. "No Spin Zone" makes me giggle every time Papa Bear says it. It's brilliant parody.
That said, we agree that Americans are largely low information because low information is exactly what we get from the news sources readily available. But the "truth" is out there if one cares enough to go look for it.
For starters...
Al Jazeera
CBC News
BBC News
Christian Science Monitor
Reuters
Why stop there? Add these journalistic abortions to your short list of similar schlock-proctors, it's the same bag of shit with a more palatable label for those so programatically-defined:
...
MSNBC
All designed to do one thing;
Guide peeps with no need-to-know into becoming much more ineffectual and idiocratic citizens.
Canadian-News-Anchors-Warning-To-Americans
And if you think CBC isn't on the other end of "selective" reporting you should get your head out of the sand.
Sun News is the Fox North, it is designed to work for one political party.
It employes conservative operatives, the news reports are bias.
Save MASSIVE amounts of money on your dental care.
Yes, I heard about this when Marketplace released it.
But let's be honest. No one goes to Dentists they've never been to before out of the blue for random surgery. What they suggest is purely a suggestion. Like any other business, the up-sell for cosmetic reasoning will always be available and just because they offer it, doesn't mean you have to do it.
The prices they quote are also the price before or without dental coverage. (I do understand not all coverage is the same)
There is also going to be overzealous Dentists, usually new dentists who just want to do all those big procedures because they enjoy the bigger jobs.
No one should be rushing into these procedures. You should stay with one dentist over time and build a relationship with them. I've never had a issue with any of my dentists. I've heard of people being offered specific services but they are all elective - and few move forward with them unless necessary.
I avoid any dental work for my family or myself if it's purely for cosmetic reasons (especially whitening- teeth aren't supposed to be white). You don't want to do it? Don't do it. But they are going to let you know your options. I think this is different than being told, "You must do it, if you don't, all your teeth are going to fall out and you will be in pain for the rest of your life."
-just doesn't happen.

TYT - Julian Assange is Now 'Enemy Of State'
The media would play it up, all right, but from the wrong side. The CBC and BBC, the two most strongly independent outlets of mainstream media have both already done clear hit pieces on Assange, wildly out of character. Strong Independent media like TYT and HuffPost would get dragged through the mud. If you think Tea Party v. OWS was a nation divided, that was nothing.
And the issue is too complex for the average Joe Lunchpail to understand, so it's going to be won, as usual, by bluster. And all the mainstream media together can produce more bluster than all the independent media, and there's not a hope in hell that any but a small portion of independent media outlets will withstand the pressure and put any effort into taking up Assange's case.
Like @Hybrid said, dead man walking.>> ^L0cky:
I'd love to tell Assange to just do it, hand himself over, get extradited, and trigger a huge campaign to have him released; thus bettering society in the long run; etc.
However, I have a funny feeling not enough people would turn out, and the media wouldn't play it up enough; and eventually he'd be left to rot in a cell, all but forgotten; and we'd just be worse off.

American Cop In Canada Wishes He Had His Gun Because...
It's been widely reported in Canadian news: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/story/2012/08/08/calgary-nose-hill-gun-stampede-police-us.html , and I think even on the BBC. I was in Thunder Bay (two provinces away) and I heard about it early last week about it. So it's pretty well known in Canada. >> ^jimnms:
This is the first I've heard of this story, so it can't be that viral. I've only heard one side of the story, so I'm not going to even comment on it. What I'd like to know is why do the TYT commentators and people here assume that if he had a gun he would have shot them? The majority of reported incidents of self defense with a gun, the gun is not discharged.

I totally understand wanting to go apesh*t in T-Mobile shop
Many mobile phone service providers are generally corrupt and greedy. This came out of Canada this week:
"Canadians have been misled by the carriers into thinking the access fee — typically between $6.95 and $8.95 a month — was a tax by the government or the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, when in fact it was simply extra revenue for cellphone companies.
The suit was filed on behalf of more than 14 million monthly cellphone subscribers, or nearly half the country's population."
This is a $19-billion class-action lawsuit.

Dumb Homophobic Christian Takes Stupid to New Depths
Yep. That's about it. The pastor probably couldn't be reached for comment, or didn't have the potential to be quits as iconic as this woman. For an news-tainment network pandering to the masses with limited capacity for independent critical thought, I think this interview was the right choice. If it had been NPR or the CBC, I would've been disappointed.>> ^hpqp:
Of course, it's not pastor Worley's statements that are stupid and homophobic beyond belief, it is just that the evil manipulators at CNN trawled through all the intelligent and ethical defenders of the pastor's stance to find the one pearl who would misrepresent him and his ideas the most. Nothing to do with the content of what she's defending, nuh-uh.
edit: reworded to give the pastor's congregation the benefit of the doubt>> ^messenger:
She was probably hand-picked for her stupidity and accent so Cooper could humiliate her and make her the poster child for homophobes. This is CNN, remember, not an actual news organization.>> ^bobknight33:
What a poor interview. This should have been with someone who had the intellectual capability to have this discussion. Where was the Pastor, Deacon or such who could have properly defended, justified the statements from the sermon.
If she was to represent any one else on any other topic she would have been just as bad.
She was railroaded for the pleasure of CNN and its audience.
That's not news that abuse.
