The Ending Of Sausage Party

JustSaying says...

Why on earth would you post the ending of a movie? Especially one that is that new?
You people probably enjoyed walking out of the theater back then, shouting "Bruce Willis is a ghost, y'all!"

Drunken Fighting - Jackie Chan

Drunken Fighting - Jackie Chan

ChaosEngine says...

I love this movie. Can you imagine the uproar if someone in the west tried to make a movie where the hero gets his "power" from being drunk?

And in case anyone didn't realise that Jackie Chan is awesome... required watching:

The Black Women Who Figured Out How To Get A Man To The Moon

vil says...

Holy tetrahedron!

Oh the Hollywood drama, three black girls save the space program, like Bruce Willis saves humanity.

Like they werent badass enough in reality. How do you make someone look like a hero if what they do is basically indistinguishable from accounting? You make shit up.

Maybe if Neil Armstrong stopped the moon from crashing into the earth, that could be a good movie.

Um, Bats Can Swim!?

Epic Rap Battles: Frederick Douglass vs Thomas Jefferson

Lawdeedaw says...

I do lol, and laughed. But hated this video. They made Douglass seem like some angry black thug instead of the powerful and articulate narrator he was. And basically Jefferson just gave up. They should have had Douglass rap first, say only, "You owned slaves," then Nice Peter could have come out and said, "Who won? Who's next?"

And I am glad people finally see this since the Bruce Banner vs Bruce Jenner came out. Finally....

Krokodil - Inside a cookhouse

just to add what @Asmo rightly pointed out,is that addictions are a symptom of internal and external forces.

when we consider the state of our society and it its inherent social structures, and we compare addiction rates and suicide rates,i feel there is sufficient evidence for concern.

just look at americas suicide rates.
http://afsp.org/about-suicide/suicide-statistics/

we can see a steady increase.
when we factor in military suicides, which have been averaging one,to up to 22 a day since 2009.the larger picture becomes incredibly disturbing.

my point, which is right with asmo,is that while one group kills themselves due to hopelessness, emotional stress or an inability to cope or adapt in these trying times.

the addict is doing the same thing, for the exact same reasons.just on a slower and more precipitous path of self-destruction.

when asked as a child what they wanted to be when they grow up.no child ever answered that their desire was to become an addict.

the "war" on drugs,
is a war on people.

and treating this as a legal/criminal problem is missing the point entirely.
this is a social issue, that can be treated by providing social solutions.

Never Dare A Hacker To Hack You...

noims says...

They can start with simple approaches and get progressively more difficult. We don't know if that was the first attempt.

For example, if they're determined enough it's simple enough to get your home ip address and target your router since the firmware's rarely updated. From there they have all unencrypted traffic on your network as well as metadata on your encrypted traffic. They can then target the main PC, particularly if it's not fully patched and not running additional security software, and so on.

It's all about how much effort they want to put into the attack. Try the simple stuff first, and if it's worth it you can get more and more complex.

I'm no expert but I am an interested bystander. I even read Bruce Schneier's blog, so I'm all, like, leet and shit

With the second guy though...he clicked a phishing link. If he didn't click that, then what? Nothing, I presume. That's the segment I want to see, the one where the person being "hacked" does everything right, to see how the hackers get in then.

The Trooper Believer

poolcleaner says...

This clip from Spinal Tap is apropos, because it's a lampoon of the Monkees video, but they were also lampooning Maiden, Sabbath, Priest, Saxon, Randy Rhoads, Ian Gillan, etc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-BYzaDwNoE

This is an interesting interview with Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden, because it addresses a rumor that they had walked out of Spinal Tap because they believed the band was making fun of them (which was untrue): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1022475/He-aint-heavy-hes-captain----Iron-Maiden-rocker.html

It's important to note that the members of Spinal Tap were all musicians and played their own music from the get go, whereas the Monkees only recorded their vocals and had other people play the instruments. Of course, in time the Monkees learned to play, even if there was so much wasted recording time they had to bring in other musicians to fill in. They eventually improved enough to play live shows with their own instrument play.

I gotta do my best to defend the Monkees, Iron Maiden, and Spinal Tap, because they ARE all great acts and entertainers. I say ARE because, as of 2016, The Monkees, Iron Maiden, AND Spinal Tap are all touring to this day. Not together, of course. That would be too awesome.

george carlin-how language is used to mask truth

Babymech says...

Sure, a comedian with a message has to work to be both a comic and convey a message. I think he failed in both cases here; it wasn't funny enough, and his message is a shambles.

I'm not saying he made a good point poorly; I'm saying that he made a really poor point poorly. He's wrong and his examples contradict him. Since part of the comedy of this skit is supposed to be 'It's funny because it's true,' it fails completely for me, since none of it rings true.

Further, I don't know what you think is strawman-ish about my argument - he literally says that 'learning disadvantage' is a PC euphemism for 'stupidity' even though we know that it's not. It's a different word with a different purpose and there was a reason for the development of additional terminology. I would say one or two of his examples are actually changes that were made to conceal unpleasant truths, but many were just made to be more accurate, useful and neutral. Calling it all a PC softening of the truth is just plain wrong.

If you want a strawman argument, on the other hand, I can point out that he sounds alarmingly like the people who fight for their right to call Caitlyn Jenner 'he,' or 'Bruce.' "These people think that just by changing the words they're called, they change their underlying condition. <fart> Doesn't happen!" That would be a strawman argument, since he doesn't actually get into those areas.

dannym3141 said:

Let's remember he's a comedian, it's pretty facile to overlook the fact that he has to be both entertaining and funny regardless of the message he wants to get across. It is extremely difficult to be funny enough to attract widespread popularity as a comedian and at the same time exhaustively cover a nuanced topic to deliver the most devastatingly convincing points.

I know it's that difficult because no one can do it. Ricky Gervais tries to do it sometimes but he either sacrifices the comedy in lieu of the message or vice versa. Who is to say if he would be as popular as he is now if he didn't do that?

So then is it better to make the perfect point to a smaller number of people, or to make a point to a lot of people and hopefully inspire them to take an interest or discuss it? Well, here we are discussing it, so i think he probably achieved exactly what he wanted to.

Carlin said that if the context is right, any word is fine. But in your "stupid" example, you try to discredit Carlin by describing a context which is clearly not right. So it turns out this is just a strawman argument. He didn't say he wants people called stupid (or retarded) or n-word like the old days, he said that words like retarded and n-word are ok in context. I don't know how you can disagree with that. I also don't know why i censored the n-word because the context was right, but it felt a bit gratuitous when i wrote it.

Big Think: John Cleese on Being Offended

enoch says...

i have been watching interviews where prominent comics are refusing to do gigs at universities due to the fact that the PC culture has become so saturated that they can't even do their bits, and it becomes a horror show.

young, educated people who mistake their own little bubble-world and attempt to project their sense of morality onto others by demanding changes in language and attitude by way of shrill harpy speak,is totally missing the point of humor.

comedy is the examination and critique of certain truths we may hold sacred, and expose the absurdity.a good comedian can do this fairly well,a great comedian does so with a finesse that is epic.

see:george carlin.lenny bruce,bill hicks,patrice o'neal,bill burr,louis ck.doug stanhope

so i have to disagree with you @Imagoamin.
comedians who thrive on being edgy are not thriving just for the simple fact of being edgy or controversial.they thrive because they are adept at exposing the absurdity of life in such a way that makes us all laugh.....at ourselves.

they experience pushback constantly in the form of heckling and jeering, and do so on a nightly basis and do not get upset that people get offended by their material.that is the very boundary they are pushing!

self examination, criticism and the ability to accept that maybe those things we held so dear are,in fact, absurd and in need of ridicule.the great comedians all give us a great, totally effective self-cleansing pill.they call it "the get the fuck over yourself" pill.

but the overly sensitive PC culture that is festering in our current higher education institutions is creating a new breed of human that lacks basic self-awareness and,on the whole,a gaggle of humorless cunts.

humor is a concept beyond their ken.they dont get it and instead of relaxing a bit, they prefer to get their panties in a knot over.....words.so they all get together and tweet and facebook,in order to share their outrage and make their little signs and march in front of a chris rock show with absolutely zero sense of irony.

to them they are striking a blow for justice!

which is just absurd, and in desperate need of ridicule.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Official Trailer 2

poolcleaner says...

Why does it have to be Doomsday? Can't that be the NEXT movie?! Why merge these events? WHY GOD! *mutilates his body* I can't stop. the. cutting. You're LITERALLY killing me, guys.

And not to confuse lines made by vigilantes from other current movie trailers but Doomsday looks like "an avocado had sex with an older avocado." AKA a ballsack.

So wrist cutting and avocado ballsack. Oh look, it's badly CGI'd Wonder Woman. I have never been so inspired to look up porn of Wonder Woman being double teamed by Batman and Superman.

Why won't you take off your mask, Bruce?

I dunno, why won't you wear these glasses while I cum on your face, Clark?

You're supposed to cum on Diana's face, Bruce!

No way, boys, you're my bitches tonight. (Hint: The strap on of truth.)

Where is Dick Grayson in all of this? Locked in the gimp box.
