Tiny Living - Couple builds and lives in 120 sq-ft house

This is taken from a radio show called Science Friday. This is about a couple who were inspired to design and build their own tiny house with mobility because they were tired of paying 1200 monthly in apartment rent. :)

Chris Tack made seven trips to Goodwill to get rid of his stuff, before moving into the 140-square-foot home he and his wife Malissa Tack designed and built. Constructed on a trailer bed and parked in Snohomish, Washington, the house is more than enough space for them, the couple says. And one advantage of a home on wheels, the 29-year-olds say, is that you can always move.

It strikes me that this isn't actually hugely different than the 3x3.6m cabins mandated by the Homestead Act (although it would have technically failed the test, despite having a window, by having one side only 2.1m).

tired of paying $1200/month for rent?! Tell me where I can get that in NYC and i'll happily take that. How about $3000 for a studio..

And why wouldn't they just buy a ready-to-use trailer home?

They are getting ripped off for that land. There are many RV style campsites and trailer parks that have septic/etc for less than that.

And they could also have bought a used trailer with more floor space for less than 20k, but it's neat they can say they designed and built it themselves.

I want to build a Geodesic dome home, stationary.

LIES LIES LIES!!! This title is full of a lie! In the video, they state that it is close 140 sq ft... and yet, the title clearly states 120 sq ft. I am shocked, outraged, and extremely disappointed as I wanted to watch a video about a 120 sq ft tiny home. False advertising! I will be contacting my congressman and starting a letter campaign to send letters to random people explaining my outrage. I'm so hopping mad athat Idasf SADewfds.

Be $58,000 into your mortgage instead? Cripes, if you're willing to be on a freaking campground than you're not looking for a 2.5 million dollar house close to downtown, so get a house in a developing area for cheap.
