It's been parodies so much, it's hard to watch this in a "normal" way. Great scene though, and great movie.

Love Soylent Green too. '70s sc-fi has to be my fav. genre. Logan's run = Awesome. I wore an ankh around my neck for a while.

I think with all of these movies, to like them, you almost have to have watched them first in the original time-frame. they are about 60% nostalgia.

I forgot you posted that, it got my vote then too. There's something about 60's and 70's SciFi...can't put my finger on it. All the cgi movie magic of today can't replace it.

edit: Charlton Heston had a cameo in the remake. I don't remember the details...he was like a scribe, or elder something or another.
Thankfully my memories of Tim Burton's version are fading. Abomination!

I remember actually being in the theater when this first came out. Yes, I was quite young, but right when this scene was coming up a young woman behind us whispered very loudly "this is where they find the Statue of Liberty".
