antsays...Ah, I miss the 1980s/80s.
articiansays...I really miss this show. Bill Cosby's one of my personal heroes. I wish there were more shows around like his, but I've never seen anything else so culturally and socially inspiring.
Sarzysays...This makes me *happy.

xxovercastxxsays...It's a shame how much flak Cosby takes these days. He was such a great storyteller comic. He doesn't get the recognition he deserves.

I also like his stand up/sit down comedies.
Shepppardsays...I would love this man if for no other reason than he hates Wanda Sykes.
But that's only a small part of the splendiferous puddin' pop that is Bill Cosby.

I agree, he should be up there with Carlin and Pryor but he went too mainstream for some people I guess so he gets left out of it.
Sorta like how Louis CK points out that Seinfeld is a genius at comedy but most people see him for only his show and being an actor instead of a comic.
shuacsays...As the French might say, très fromage! Wow. I can't believe people think this show is the best sitcom of all time. The list of movies, music, and television created in the 80s that is of a lasting value is incredibly short.

I don't think it's that; The Cosby Show was just like his standup comedy. Hell, quite a few of the shows were just acting out the stories he used to tell on stage. I think it's just that he wasn't the least bit edgy. He was hilarious but he was very "safe". No controversy, no swearing, no risky topics. I think he's just seen as a naive old man by most people who are my age or younger.
But he seems to be known more for his pudding commercials than any of his work now, so maybe you're right in that sense.
