San Antonio ISD Officer Bodyslams 12 Year Old Girl

A school police officer in San Antonio, Texas, has been suspended, with pay, and is facing an excessive force investigation after a video surfaced showing him body slamming a 12-year-old girl outside of a middle school.

Joshua Kehm, 27, was identified by the school district as being the officer in the video, the San Antonio Express-News reports. He formerly spent seven years in the USAF. During his time in the Air Force he worked as a patrolman, patrol sergeant, command and control operator, non-lethal weapons instructor and security forces trainer.

The girl in the video is Janissa Valdez, a sixth grader, according to News 4 San Antonio. The incident began as a “verbal altercation” between two girls at about 4 p.m. on March 29, outside of the middle school. Janissa Valdez told News 4 San Antonio, “I was going up to her to tell her let’s go somewhere else so we could talk but that’s when the cop thought I was going at her.”

The girl’s mother, Gloria Valdez reports that the officer said her daughter “tried” to kick him. She also states that her daughter was knocked out and the girl has suffered from severe headaches since the incident. She also said “You could actually hear her head hit the concrete. That’s what hurt me the most. And he didn’t even seem like it bothered him. And he still handcuffed her after she was unconscious.”

Brutal child abuse.
I've gotten to the point where, when I see a trained adult officer use their full strength against a child, I want to see the crowd that surrounds him knock him the fuck out then place them in their own handcuffs under citizens arrest.
If any other adult did this to a child, that would certainly be the proper response.
A blue uniform changes nothing except to make the officer MORE culpable for their actions, not less, since they are trained on how to handle this situation without injuring a child.
That girl is never going to have to work. Smashing her skull is probably going to be quite costly for the taxpayers in San Antonio. It SHOULD be quite costly for the officer, but they're usually protected by law from civil suits.
BTW, @Mordhaus , this isn't really 'kids'....those are supposed to be videos acceptable FOR kids, not videos OF kids.

But...but, maybe it's a video about how kids should expect police to treat them now.

This x100. I am scared I'm going to witness this someday and all the irritation and anger from seeing the innumerable examples of it online is going to come spilling out.

Yeah, I hear you. The worst thing in this case is that sometimes you can chalk it up to the cop possibly being under trained in how to handle someone who is struggling, but here we have a military instructor/trainer for non-lethal force using a brutal slam on a 12 year old girl.

I mean, this guy has years of experience in how to do things right and has trained countless others during that time, but he couldn't find an easier way to take down a child? If anyone did that move, that wasn't a cop, they would be in jail so fast their head would spin and if it was their child it would be taken away from them. To use your example, if I saw a guy hip toss a 12 year old girl onto their face, I would have to do something to that guy. We refrain from doing it because they are police and can hurt us, or the legal system will, but a day is coming when the excrement is going to hit the impeller and someone is going to end up killing the cop or being killed over something like this.

Definitely anger issues here.
The use of force can only be explained 3 ways :
1. Immediate danger to himself or others ...
2. Inability to use propre technique to obtain compliance
3. Ego, he got angry and let his emotions dictate his actions.
Unprofessional and dangerous = Get him out of there.

He has extensive training, far more than your average officer, and the solution to a 12 year old 'resisting' is to hip slam her into the ground face first?

Maybe he should have just went Robocop on her, "Come quietly or there will be...trouble." Then he could have shot her when she didn't face plant herself.

Maybe a little excessive but the kid should have complied.

Her fault.

Fun with trolling?

On the other hand we need to take a stronger stance against miscreants. They can put a serious toll on our ability to have a peaceful afternoon. Better remove them early on.

I agree that 12 yr old is a miscreant.

...and....FIRED.
The school super intendant has also sent the case to the Texas Rangers for possible criminal charges after seeing the video, which completely contradicted the officer's report on the incident where he called her fall 'accidental' and had not reported his use of restraints as he's required to.

I shouldn't watched that. I'm fucking pissed now. He better lose his job. Wow, just wow.
