Mirror's Edge - 1st Person Parkour on PS3 In Game Footage

If you are not interested in Videogames, I hope you still watch, because, visually this is brilliant! :) I love this concept, not sure how it will play, but for now, watch this :)

From Wiki

"The story revolves around a runner named Faith and her struggle to free her sister from a corrupt government. Her parents were killed and she was forced to grow up on the street, later becoming a runner. Faith was taught not to rely on modern forms of communication, partially because the ruthless police state prefers eavesdropping every chance they get. As Faith attempts to rescue her sister, while running messages for the criminal underworld, she gets caught up in a series of events which lead to her being pursued by the totalitarian government. Acting as Faith's guide is a mysterious character named Mercury, who will help Faith in her attempt to outwit and overcome the many government agents that are out to eliminate her."

I'm definitely excited by the concept of this game... But I wonder, will there be a difficulty setting or way for us to turn off the 'hot route' that guides players? And is there only one way to get in and out of the various locales? It seems like the mechanic will lend itself to gameplay that feels like it's on rails...

I don't know yet, about the customisation...would be nice However the hot route as you put it kev, exists in all directions, so the idea is you don't have to think on whether or not you can use a ledge or whatever, if its a colour surface you can move there So it will be free roaming from what I understand except less Prince of Persia guessing and more Assassins Doing

The movement in Assassins Creed was one of the few things I liked about it, so if this is anything like that it may be worth a look.
I'm not sold on the first person perspective though, and the heavy breathing would get annoying eventually.

Zeph, I agree the first person has a chance to fail, but I think DICE will have spent sufficent time ensuring it has a chance with the game playing public

hehe heavy breathing, i gues we will have to see how much is in the final game

I had seen some stills from this a while back and really wanted to see it in action, so thanks.

The concept is great, in that it's quite different from anything else, so huge kudos to them for that.

Let's hope they can pull it off.

I can't imagine playing, say, Tony Hawk or the similar parts of Prince of Persia from this perspective - be too hard to control. I think this might suffer from the same fate. I mean, how many times have you wished your FPS had more jumping puzzles?

As an avid gamer I hate to say this, but I won't be surprised if some kids will try to emulate this with tragic consequences.

I mean, just watching that makes me want to go run around on rooftops, and I'm an old fart with severe vertigo.

LOL yes
I am afraid that follows the same line as "But you can do that in the Matrix!"
Parkour is an interesting sport though

Also, kids, emulate....thats what kids do...

She looks like Nic Endo from Atari Teenage Riot, doesn't she ?

The concept developped in this video was very appealing ... until the "player" used a gun, again ...

Btw, i want this game on my desk, NOW !
