Cup of Brown Joy
Just for posterity, I found an HD version: http://www.vimeo.com/794351
Hope they get around to making more of these things... it seems this Professor Elemental (the guy in the video) is a relatively established artist, but the other songs he had on his site had boring contemporary themes
You have never seen the Olympics like this
Wish they'd turn those massive spotlights down just a little.
Fear of Islam Hurts Obama in Kentucky
>> ^Bfresh:
Just remember, by making a broad statment about ALL Kentuckians, you are engaging in the same prejudiced slandering that you are bashing.
That rather goes without saying. If you're referring to me, you'll hopefully see I made no statements about all Kentuckians; just the ones willfully flaunting their xenophobia and ethnocentrism in this clip.
Fear of Islam Hurts Obama in Kentucky
The level of ignorance these people display is truly frightening. I'd really like to know what the "websites" and "news sources" are that feed them their opinions, but I guess I can make a pretty good guess.
We're all given roughly the same mental equipment to make sense of the world with; it's an insult towards the whole species to neglect to use it.
Ichi the killer (NSFW)

the hanging from the hooks made me cringe.
If you think that's bad enough, wait till they get to the oil.
It's an extremely violent movie, which I usually dislike, but it's so over the top that it's hard to take seriously - even though it's always presented seriously. I really thought the movie had some interesting things to say amid the violence, and I don't think it could've been said without it.
As for Oldboy, I never got to it, but I saw the first part of the trilogy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and it seemed rather pointless to me. The only thing I got out of it was the way it played with my (and I assume most people's) tendency to pick sides in conflicts, but I don't feel the violence necessarily added to the message. I guess I should give Oldboy a try, though.
But then again, I find life depressing enough without constantly inundating myself with this stuff...
Adorable Puppy Speaks "I Want... I Want Out!"
Put the camera down and pick up the puppy already!
Marilyn Monroe: Censored scenes from The Seven Year Itch
>> ^Trancecoach:
anyone else see that recently discovered stag film, featuring marilyn that's been making its way around the intertubes? Kinda loses the allure, don't it?
Except that it's not her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3A230HRffw (safe for work)
Zero Punctuation Review: Painkiller
Looks like Painkiller got added to the Steam featured game rotation, with a quote from Yahtzee. Moreover, it seems to have made the top sellers list pretty much as soon as the review hit... not bad for such an old game!
Bladerunner - VK Interview with Leon
This reminds me that I still haven't seen the Final Cut that came out last year; I should rectify that soon. I very rarely watch a movie more than once, but I've seen this one well over a dozen times and I'll never get tired of it.
Dancing the Charleston to Daft Punk
>> ^cybrbeast:
Wow, that fit really well.
I'd also like to see the clip with it's original music
I'm a year late with this, but:

Mk 110 - The U.S. Navys most advanced gun
>> ^MarineGunrock:
No, it's all as simple as this: So long as there are people that are willing to attack us, we need a way of defending ourselves. So long as we have the technology to defend ourselves better than we could yesterday, we should do it.
Defending? Think about the last hundred years and the countless wars the US has engaged in during that time. Would you say that the country comes off as the defender rather than the aggressor? Wars are always sold to the people on the grounds that they "are necessary" or else this or that malign force will threathen their way of life, but that is propaganda, not reality.
Fear is the most primaeval instinct and as such cannot be reasoned with, which is why it's such a convenient tool for leaders.
I Remember Lebanon (2006) - by Zeina Aboul Hosn
These kinds of clips are some of my favorites on the sift. Very poignant in its simplicity.
Fun Origami Paper Toy
I tried making one, but that last step > me

Was going to sift this but you beat me to it. I love it!
Mirror's Edge - 1st Person Parkour on PS3 In Game Footage
As an avid gamer I hate to say this, but I won't be surprised if some kids will try to emulate this with tragic consequences.
I mean, just watching that makes me want to go run around on rooftops, and I'm an old fart with severe vertigo.
