Man versus jet engine

From Youtube:
"Man verses Jet Engine
(Gas Turbine)
A-6 Intruder On A Carrier

Suck is not a very scientific term, as it implies the guy was pulled into the engine. The true physics is the higher relative outside pressure pushed in the man."

I think I have seen this on here but I searched for it and could not find it..
Also, I so wanted to put this in Cooking & Grindhouse but...

Suction doesn't imply any type of pulling force... it's just the flow of a fluid from high pressure to low pressure, so it technically implies a pushing force.

I think people generally think of suction as a pulling force because actions like sucking on a straw use a pulling motion to produce a low pressure in the mouth, even though the fluid is pushed into the mouth by (usually) atmospheric pressure.

a screen of any kind would reduce and distort airflow to the turbine. it's a calculated risk and they test these things by shooting birds through them to prevent flameout of the engine by bird strike. not human strike.

in short, the protection against being pulled into the intake is to duck, and he didn't. i'm glad he's okay, but he's right, he shouldn't have gone into the check standing as high as he did.
