Kinetic sculpture - 'Cloud', by Troika

Cool kinetic sculpture at London's Heathrow Airport that uses flip dots to create various moving patterns. Hard to explain, so you must see this. I could watch something like this all day. Awesomesauce.

It reminds of when I was younger every greasy spoon cafe we stopped in during family road trips had those advertising signs that slowly scrolled down then cycled around the back and flipped back over the top. I loved watching those.

Looks really cool....until the flippers start to break randomly across the surface, but the airport authority wont take it down until a sufficient number of them have broken to warrant a crane. Then it will just look tacky for a good while until they make that choice.

Looks cool now though.

^It's actually being taken care of by an art curator, so hopefully that won't happen. My biggest question: Does it make a racket when all the dots flip, or is it nice and quiet? I hope it's the latter. I better ask a Londoner who flies every now and then.
