They also honk their horn twice in quick succession as a way of saying thank you. I didn't know that when I first started driving here, so the first time it happened to me after I let a guy in I actually turned to my wife and said, "WTF is his problem, I let him in!"

I think you have to view rush hour on a Tokyo subway to really understand just how amazingly polite most Japanese are.

I sincerely doubt North Americans, on average, could keep their sanity.
