Seriously though, amazing voice, makes you respect the fact he has done well not just through being funny, but also by putting a lot of effort into actually developing his talents in various ways.

Tenacious D's album from 2001 has some of the best singing, instrument playing, and production you'll ever hear. It's amazing. I'm not crazy about most of their other stuff but for some reason I can still listen to that whole album and be amazed, stirred, laughing my head off, and having my BALLS ROCKED OFF.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a tenacious D, and very much a Jack Black fan.. but, This actually seemed rather.. plain?

This just doesn't seem all that special to me.

Yes, only America invades privacy. Only the people that you know invade privacy are invading privacy. Otherwise, it doesn't happen. Ever. Anywhere.

Until you know about it. Yep. That's how you know for a fact that your privacy is invaded -- because the news tells you about it. Interesting concept.

I was half-expecting him to be goofy and somewhat unintentionally dis-respectful during this.

But I was pleasantly surprised to see such reverence, respect, and seriousness he put in to his performance.

Well done!

I think it's special precisely because of the lack of 'showbiz' about it. The Star-Spangled Banner is a really difficult song to sing. It's very rangy and the intervals are difficult to hit. Just presenting it "plainly" is enough of an achievement.

I'm impressed he didn't try to overboard "FREE", the usual crowd-pleaser, he probably didn't think he could do it for whatever reason (sick, sore throat?) so he hit it in tune and well, and only as long as he could comfortably hold it.

Still kept waiting for him to start singing about how this was just a song about the greatest anthem in the world...
