Hell yes - I'm _really_ looking forward to this one!!

YT: Ben’s been double-crossed before, but this time they messed with his gang, they trashed his bike, and they’re about to come back for more.

Originally released by LucasArts in 1995, Full Throttle is a classic graphic adventure game from industry legend Tim Schafer, telling the story of Ben Throttle, butt-kicking leader of biker gang the Polecats, who gets caught up in a tale of motorcycles, mayhem and murder.

Now over 20 years later, Full Throttle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn and 3D high-resolution artwork, with remastered audio and music.

Players will be able to switch back and forth between classic and remastered modes, and mix-n-match audio, graphics and user interface options to their heart’s desire. Also included is a concept art browser with work from Peter Chan, and a commentary track with the game’s original creators.

Full Throttle was the first game with Tim Schafer as sole project lead, and a much beloved cult classic! This special edition has been lovingly restored and remade with the care and attention that can only come from involving the game's original creators. It’s headed to PS4 in 2017.

I love that this game is getting a remake, but I can't say I like how it looks. The new graphics are too smooth; the roughness of the low-resolution graphics gave the original a warm and hand-drawn appearance. Meanwhile, this new one looks like a cheaply made Shockwave/Flash game.

The population is greatly decreased.
And now the odds are greatly increased.
That I may someday get a chance,
to kiss your lips.
I thank the lo-o-ord each day,
for the apocalypse.

Folks are mostly disfigured or dead
but, sugar, I wont let it go to my head.
My mama's face has dripped down into the dirt.

But I'm still chasin' chitlins, whiskey and skirt.

Good thing you can switch between the old and new graphics, then.

The original game was only a couple of hours long, and not really worth playing more than once. Not sure how this is gonna be a worthy contender in today's modern gaming landscape unless they change the story a lot to add a lot more content and perhaps replayability.

But I don't really see how this is remastered. Remastered games in the past have been a lot more drastic. Like the Monkey Island series or King's Quest. This just looks like they ran the graphics through a resample algorithm. Not feeling it.

Walk near the minefield. Drop a bunny. Bunny walks bunny goes boom. Walk up to where the bunny went boom. Drop another bunny. Rinse and repeat.

You should be able to get across with an extra bunny or three. In the end game, you can use any extra bunnies on some moving machinery as a small easter egg. Ben likes it, anyway.

Got it for Xmas 1995 for my Mac. Never did get past the minefield bunny scene.

You're just a different type of gamer than those of us who thrived during the early eras of gaming. My brother and I used to do speed runs through Full Throttle just for fun because we enjoyed adventure titles so much. It's like watching your favorite movie over and over again, except that you get to interact with the characters.

Especially Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, most of the modern Tex Murphy adventures, and the Monkey Islands. Mostly Lucas Arts and Sierra, but companies like Access also provided hours and hours of the tedious adventure game shlock we enjoy. Hell, there were days where an entire 24 hours was spent playing text adventures, some of those hours spent replaying a game we had played through 100 times or more.

So how am I a different type of gamer? I've been gaming since the 80s, back when things like Zork were just a black screen with white text, and you got a white plastic rock in the box with the game (edit - actually, I think that was Wishbringer with the plastic rock...).

Full Throttle was a great game for its day but it really was quite short. Play through it again and you'll remember what I'm talking about. Even for its time, it was short. Most gamers these days will find this easily forgettable was my point.
