For a lot of people it's akin to auto theft. This guy deserved a few wallups, which is all he got really. What a dick.

I'm not sure if the fail lies with the thief or with the guys trying to act tough...

Just a bike? If someone tries to steal my main mean of transport, which happens to be a bike, I'd be pissed off like hell. And it's not "just a bike".

A mate told me his ... cousin(?) had his bike stolen, and a few weeks later was sitting out front of a cafe when he saw a dude sitting on his bike at the lights. He vaulted out onto the street, and poleaxed him saying "This is my bike" and rode off with it.

I always wondered if the dude he took out bought it innocently from a second hand store.

I feel bad for the thief, he was probably just trying to feed his family.

However for those who have little time to research this event themselves, I will give a short summary.

The man was caught attempting to steal a bike by using a drill to break the bike lock. The bike belonged to a NYC messenger. Did you hear a man say "That's his work bike"? As an ex-messenger myself, I can't explain how much this bike was not 'just a bike'. That bike was this man's livelihood. This thief deserved what he got, which wasn't much.

Also anyone who doesn't wear their helmet properly needs a good learnin'.

Don't steal Zoolander's bike, apparently.
