Cheech Marin Smokes Anderson Cooper

I have absolutely no doubt that Cheech inhaled. Nor do I have any doubt that Anderson is a bright guy, that's been clearly demonstrated. I think this simply goes to show two things. 1) Pot doesn't cause much in the way of long-term impairments. And 2) Cheech is not only damned smart, he's one hell of a good sport. Because the assumptions made, and the questions asked were quite deeply insulting.

If a person were on a mission to understand what's going on in the world and only had CNN to watch, I bet they'd have no trouble pointing out a timeline of events of what Lady Gaga wore to what event, but would have no historical context or timeline of the geopolitics of Iran and their country's relation to them.

Blitzer's appearance was discussed by the morning guys on the local radio station here. They made an interesting point: comedy is largely about current and historic events and benefits from lots of obscure knowledge. Even comedians who aren't especially topical work in a lot of references in their punchlines. Cheech may play an idiot in his movies, but he's still a comedian.

To be an anchor, you just need to be able to read.

It could only show those 2 things if the assumption that Jeopardy required you to be smart. Knowledge and intelligence are not necessarily inclusive.>> ^Stormsinger:

Not necessarily, no...but in general, there's a pretty solid connection between the two. And I think Marin's history says "smart", not just "trivia guru". Few complete idiots have a long career as actors with significant roles, as memorization isn't something idiots do well.
