Democracy and Ethics of Force

highdileeho says...

I can't agree with the deduction that goverment regulations on social reform policies is no different than a theif taking money, and redistributing the wealth. In order to get a true sense of the issues, you need to include all the convoluted nuances that coalesce in wealth distribution. it's not so black and white, which is why philisophical constructs like this one, distort the reality of the political climate.

Think about road ways, think about schools, the police, the military, libraries, the fire department, state universities, social security. All of those are a redistribution of weath, the people who have less would benifit more because a smaller percentage of taxation would be taken. There is no protest about that issue, because there is an understanding that those things are for the good of the entire country, and are essental to have a better quality of life. the problem is that people have been decieved into believing that american social medicine would reduce the quality of life. nonsense. It is a scary issue though, because we can see just how the distribution of missinformation and propaganda has percolated into the opinions of people in this country.

Education Revolt in Los Angeles

highdileeho says...

I was immediatly compelled to write response before watching the entire video, so forgive me if I repeat something that was already explained. That school is notorious in many many ways. The highschool was constructed and designed by a contracting company that builds prisons. The state of California contracted the company to design the school as a means of controlling the population. It comes complete with a fenced court yard, floor layouts that are intentionally designed to disorient students, barred windows. Everyone who goes to that school, teachers included, have the understanding that their society has given up on them. Even before they have ever opened a book. It dosen't matter how many A's you get. It dosen't matter how successfull you are as a teacher, because the state has already turned their backs, marginalized, ostracised, discredited an entire population of people. California has made similar schools all over poor neighborhoods.

But, I love you baby! I was trying to prove a point, granted I just got back home from the bar, was completly smashed, and was in no condition to give an opinion about anything. I have since learned to stay away from comment pages during times of innebriation. You know it's bad when you wake up feeling regret about something as benign as internet comments.

This is why people don't say crap when riding public transportation. You don't know the person, or anything about them. Hell they could be on the bus with a handgun ready to take out every coworker they are with and was going to leave you alone till you said "hello".

Racist, mental problems, or not..EBM WAS in the right here. He did defend himself.
Black or white does not matter, you do not act on impulses to do whatever violent act you see fit based on someones words towards you.

If that was the case, half you mother fuckers would be dead on here.

Wow, I had respect for you. Now I don't.

No offense, but if anyone is interested in real journalism, who's intrests aren't cynicism, and ratings, but objective reporting on all the issues in America, then watch bill moyers. I'm sick of seeing people applauding all these baffoons. youve been duped, we don't even know what good journalism is anymore, and most of the younger generation have probably never heard it at all. Mostly because It's boring and depressing, but at least it's classier than poppycock.

Nevermind, I was just going to catch up on the news to discover todays show is a farewell episode.
god, i hope we haven't just lost the last sane voice we had left that was giving us our information.

Canada Wins Gold, Proceeds to Party Down

highdileeho says...

I know nothing about hockey, but I do know this was the most entertaining sport match I have ever witnessed. The canadian offsides calls were a little lacking, but what the hell do I know. The canadian goalie was awesome, she was always set up at a perfect angle to defend the shots on goal. And Julie Chu of the American team was very aggressive, and unwavering despite the quick deficit they had to overcome. I never thought I'd say this but, Thanks Canada. Great sport you created. Hope the Men's match is as entertaining.

America's Secret War With Iran

Just to point out, this is from mid-late 2008.

Very true. The reason I posted it, and believe it to still be relevant is because it justifies the opinion that I had in response to enoch's post. I don't think America would involve themselves directly in a conflict with Iran, but rather fund militant groups to pressure change within their government. Similar to what we did in the Afgan/russia conflict. In many south American conflicts in the 70's. In the procurment of Hawaii, panama, and Iraq in the 80's. There is an excellent book about this topic if anyone is interested:

Holy Grail of Energy?

highdileeho says...

I think this technology is too promising for engineers, and governments to pass up on. The technology is not quite there yet, but the push to improve it will definitly make this a viable and competitive energy alternative in the future. Is it a green alternative; no, but it will be a more efficient power source...i think.
