If you go into prefs you can turn that back on. I think dag turned it off by default because it was adding too much load on the servers. You can also enable the thesaurus which is a pretty nifty tool, as well.

Yeah, it's not there for me either. Probably turned off.

I'm sure it takes a lot of capacity--which cost money.

I can live with out it (although a thesarus would be amazing, astonishing, astounding, awesome, awful, eye-opening, fabulous, miraculous, portentous, prodigious, staggering, stunning, stupendous, sublime, surprising, wonderful, and wondrous).

Lib, The spell check feature may be part of your browser and not the site. Weren't you having pc issues recently? Maybe the option was reset or disabled when you were under the hood fixin yer problem.

@blankfist is just trolling for suckers. Spell-checking is built into all modern browsers. Usually, you just need to right-click the field you're typing into and tick the "Check Spelling" option from the context menu.
