we have all seen the videos of cops abusing their authority.the cops who have literally gotten away with murder.we have all bore witness to the militarization of our police force, and all we have gotten from the institution who has been given the job to uphold the law...is silence, justifications and obvious legalized corruption.
michael wood is a marine veteran and former baltimore police officer who is so openly candid and honest on so many things we have all opined on,pontificated on and sometimes just assumed.
this is such a great interview.
from y/t:
*Ever heard a cop talk so openly about the corruption and crimes committed by those tasked to protect and serve us? One with a master's degree, an insider's view, and a conscience? Me neither. That's why I spent 5 hours editing down the almost 3 hour interview into a digestible 30 minutes. This guy isn't perfect, and imho, has a debt to pay to society for his prior actions. That said, he's paying it off in courage and honesty, brilliantly, and I hope every cop hears what he has to say, for all our sake.
Dedicated to the Hilo Hawaii Police Department, the Hilo Courthouse, and the lawyers who rule both.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 2015: when i made this video, i had no idea it would hit the kind of numbers it has... or how everything would go down. So far, I've had nothing but success in the court case that resulted from the police raid that made an instant activist out of me, so something must be legit here... as of Nov 23rd, the prosecutor's office reduced all charges/penalty threats to the equivalent of one missed court date for a minor speeding ticket, just to keep me out of a jury trial after I refused all plea offers, including one with zero fine and zero jail. They did this on their own, because they know they can't win. I help people for free, just message me via the 'About" tab, as I get too many comments to respond to them all.

bobknight33says...I would blame government policy as the root cause in keeping the poor poor.
articiansays...Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
articiansays...I've had this conversation, face to face, with at least 3 cops who I knew personally outside of their profession. It's these experiences that make my head nearly explode every time people say something to the contrary when it relates to what takes place in these institutions around the US.
So here it is, assholes. What kind of excuses are people are going to come up with to gloss over this particular vector of truth?
dannym3141says...In addition to not having guns, a large percentage of police that i've ever met have been fairly decent people - but i've never had to deal with inner city police or lived in a majority ethnic community. I definitely think that quotas and under-funding have had a negative impact though, since the times of the classic bobby on the beat. So whilst i'm grateful we're not getting shot, there's underhand influences at work including profiling and also things like kettling and agent provocateurs at peaceful and legal demonstrations.
kingmobsays...+1 for youthful optimism. He is bright enough and still young enough to change peoples minds on the status quo of police protection. This has to be the most encouraging video since that one of the brave policeman who didn't shoot, despite the person ignoring orders of "show you hands" .
