stumblingjonsays...God, How sad your life is...
karaidlsays...Who?
Deanosays...Blimey this guy is irritating, a mixture of camp and sarcasm almost makes me want to downvote.
Nebosukesays...David Pogue is interesting once in a while. Not so here.
xxovercastxxsays...Saw this a few months ago. MS surely doesn't innovate, but then Apple doesn't really either.
Calendars and photo galleries, by nature, tend to resemble each other. They become far less useful when they take on an unfamiliar form.
Spotlight wasn't a new idea. Unix Locate was around long before and I bet there's a predecessor to that as well.
Widget engines have been around for far longer than either Vista or OSX's implementations.
Kruposays...OMFG this guy is insanely irritating.
TerovThePyrosays...Man, this guy is not a pleasant thing to listen to. Nor is the music. Someone drop some down votes on this... (although he has valid points, Vista isn't original and shouldn't be advertised as if it were...)
arekinsays...downvote, agree with overcast completely, and spotlights nothing but search, which has been on windows from day one
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
I'm torn - his presentation is annoying, but I'm a Mac FanBoy (FanMan?)
Hmmm, fanatacism wins again.
aidossays...I'm with you Dag....and as a fanboy:
@arekin - you're not seriously comparing windows search to spotlight are you?
@xxovercastxx - you may find the original widgets interesting
I know they both take ideas from each other... though years of experience has taught me that Apple's execution is just plain better
viewer_999says...As we all know, Apple invented sidebars, triangles, programs which sort and categorize and display, and of course, chess.
Then again, there is Mac OS X-Box.
arrendeksays...They all stole everything from Xerox PARC. This is dumb. My no downvote policy is only barely keeping me from downvoting this terribly annoying fellow making bad points. Did I mention he is annoying?
Wait a second... Sarcasm? From a Mac fan? Whaaaaaaaaaa?
Stick to your retarded commercials.
I can't believe this not fun or informative video is in the top 15, but I guess not everyone agrees with whats in the top 15 all the time, so I guess I better not complain. This is me not complaining.
dagsays...Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag.(show it anyway)
wow, that's the best non-complaint ever.
archchefsays...I am by far not a Windows man myself. I have a mac at home, and a linux/windows machine. But this "stolen ideas" thing is just plain silly. As a video gamer, if I applied this "logic" to video games, there hasn't been more then 1 or 2 original games in the past 10 years. (yes, I do exaggerate)
cheesemoosays...Downvote for being both annoying and boring.
xxovercastxxsays...I was actually familiar with ye olde Desk Accessories. There are similarities with modern widgets, but I'm not sure I'd call them such. They couldn't really deliver information in those days the way widgets do now. DA was more of a workaround for the inability to multitask at the time.
aidossays...but I couldn't agree more with that archchef (even though it's not the point you were making). I can't stand games anymore. there are only about 3 different types of game - no bloody originality these days. give me back my amstrad cpc and I'll be happy playing Gryzor (Contra) all day.
aidossays...I know Desk Accessories aren't exactly the same - the basic idea is there and 25 years of advancement in the technology is what makes today's ones better.
frankly I wish apple would get back to developing their OS instead of mucking around with that iPhone.
karaidlsays...Hooray for me! I have submitted the most annoying video to ever make the top 15!
Kruposays...Wait, did the "BAM apply to head" ad ever survive queue, or make it up? I think not.
quantumushroomsays...And Firefox > Internet Explorer. What do thousands of computer nerds in Washington do best? Find ways to keep themselves employed.
ChosenOnesays...Wish I could downvote... any way videosift could make it so that non bronze star members could downvote on a limited basis?
DarkSaviorsays...This is one of the most annoying videos....argh I hate this guy! he's so annoying!
loorissays...i'm a mac fan, i hate windows, but this video simply sucks.
btw, spotlight is a shameless rip-off of quicksilver
pipp3355says...my first ever downvote - well deserved. this guy is a muppet. (irish / dublin slang loosely translated as annoying idiot)
karaidlsays...If it makes you guys feel better, I never intended for this video to hit the top 15.
deathcowsays...He's homo-irritotic
pipp3355says...nothing personal karaidl. i usually try to separate a good sift from disliking / disagreeing with the content of the sift. but this guy just takes the biscuit and shoves it so far up his behind that it ends up in his mouth, at which point he chews it up all fine-like, swallows it and poos it out like an evil kangaroo who overdosed on laxatives. on purpose.
teebeenzsays...The guys annoying, but hes right. Up vote.
aidossays...I don't like to compare spotlight to quicksilver. spotlight is a simple search tool. quicksilver is a paradigm shift in how you use your computer... (and one of the greatest enhancements to an OS ever).
karaidlsays...*kill
siftbotsays...Permanently discarding this video - kill requested by submitter karaidl.
