Windows Vista did not steal ideas from Mac OS X!

xxovercastxxsays...

Saw this a few months ago. MS surely doesn't innovate, but then Apple doesn't really either.

Calendars and photo galleries, by nature, tend to resemble each other. They become far less useful when they take on an unfamiliar form.

Spotlight wasn't a new idea. Unix Locate was around long before and I bet there's a predecessor to that as well.

Widget engines have been around for far longer than either Vista or OSX's implementations.

They all stole everything from Xerox PARC. This is dumb. My no downvote policy is only barely keeping me from downvoting this terribly annoying fellow making bad points. Did I mention he is annoying?

Wait a second... Sarcasm? From a Mac fan? Whaaaaaaaaaa?

Stick to your retarded commercials.

I can't believe this not fun or informative video is in the top 15, but I guess not everyone agrees with whats in the top 15 all the time, so I guess I better not complain. This is me not complaining.

I am by far not a Windows man myself. I have a mac at home, and a linux/windows machine. But this "stolen ideas" thing is just plain silly. As a video gamer, if I applied this "logic" to video games, there hasn't been more then 1 or 2 original games in the past 10 years. (yes, I do exaggerate)

I was actually familiar with ye olde Desk Accessories. There are similarities with modern widgets, but I'm not sure I'd call them such. They couldn't really deliver information in those days the way widgets do now. DA was more of a workaround for the inability to multitask at the time.

but I couldn't agree more with that archchef (even though it's not the point you were making). I can't stand games anymore. there are only about 3 different types of game - no bloody originality these days. give me back my amstrad cpc and I'll be happy playing Gryzor (Contra) all day.

I know Desk Accessories aren't exactly the same - the basic idea is there and 25 years of advancement in the technology is what makes today's ones better.

frankly I wish apple would get back to developing their OS instead of mucking around with that iPhone.

nothing personal karaidl. i usually try to separate a good sift from disliking / disagreeing with the content of the sift. but this guy just takes the biscuit and shoves it so far up his behind that it ends up in his mouth, at which point he chews it up all fine-like, swallows it and poos it out like an evil kangaroo who overdosed on laxatives. on purpose.

I don't like to compare spotlight to quicksilver. spotlight is a simple search tool. quicksilver is a paradigm shift in how you use your computer... (and one of the greatest enhancements to an OS ever).
