first things first, Benny Goodman is a must see.

the strange thing about this clip is not in the music or the style, it's the delivery. see, I don't think he's joking but he just looks so out of place, a parody of himself without seeming to mean it.

just watched his Jump vid and I have to be honest... I can't for the life of me figure out if he's being funny on our level or not. I generally know a parody when I see one... but in this case everything feels a bit out of kilter. thoughts?

been out of sift action for a while so I'm only just catching up on what's going on around here. wish I'd been around to back you up on the whole Venezuela TV thing. just been in Brazil and I spent a bit of time researching the situation in Venezuela while I was there.

as an ex-new zealander (recent anti-terrorism raids on my friends have confirmed why I'll never live there again) I long for a democracy where people actually get to have their say, Venezuela being one of the better models I've seen. one can but live in hope.

they have a great system in venezuela. you place your vote electronically and it prints out a receipt that you check and put in a box. obviously all the electronic votes are counted and a big percentage of the paper ones to verify that the electronic one makes sense.

yeah. I have friends who were there for it. I feel rather sick thinking about having missed it (i only just arrived back into the country - that's my excuse)
