oblio70says...LA rain is deeply polluted, agreed? Whereas, they source their water form up North at the Hetch Hetchy (near Silicon Valley)...so he DOES carefully manicure/pamper his little plot of grass. freak!

If you water your lawn when it's hot, most of the water evaporates before the grass can absorb it. Depending on how long / heavy the rain is, watering it can still make sense.
Of course, that ignores how stupid the idea of lawns in hot countries are in the first place.
