When Cheese Fails - Starcraft 2 Stupidest Cheese

You Know The Cheese Is Weak - Epic --- Fail. You will understand when you see the erm, miscalculation given here. (Cheese in Starcraft refers to quickly trying to end the game via extreme aggression, hidden armies etc - cheap wins.)

The commentary makes this priceless. The build up is....

I normally find these guys pretty annoying, like they are trying too hard to be hohohilarious, but this was a good one. I think my favorite is still the one where Protoss proxy gates inside a Terrans base, the Terran walls off his ramp as normal, and then simply floats his CC to the natural, effectively walling off the Proxy inside his own main.

I was sure the "reveal" was going to be him destroying those rocks and taking a bizarre ninja expansion. The reality was simultaneously more reasonable and more hilarious. It was pretty lucky timing on the SCV to create that situation, though.

I don't normally follow these, do you have a link to that replay?

Okay so what was going on? Did the guy think he was at his base and building a defense or at the other guy's base and getting ready for a quick attack? He quit when he realized there was no base there, or so it seems, so I am guessing it was related to that.

He was essentially building his faction's defensive cannons INSIDE (what he thought was) the opponent's base. This is extremely irritating, as the cannons are very strong, and once you've built enough of them along with the pylons they need to run, there's little chance the troops his opponent had amassed by this point could have taken them out. And after that, it's just a matter of advancing your cannon wall step by step into his buildings, until you're taking out his core buildings.

It's extremely cheesy, but a huge gamble as well. All his money was sunk into it, and once he realized his opponent wasn't even there, he left. You even see in the video, he had nothing else in his base to fight back with, when the marines eventually got around to attacking him.

personally. I think it's lame when the game is decided so early on with these pre-emptive attacks. Yeah I realize that's how it works RL...but I play games to get away from the boring RL.

That and there is something just...wrong about beating a game with just drones.

ChaosEnginesays...

I never played starcraft, but I bought sc2 when it came out. It was a fun game but the multiplayer scene is just too competitive for me.

That said, I think I may have just found the first video game I enjoy as a spectator sport. I watched a bunch of those "when cheese fails" vids and they were really entertaining.
