Sagemindsays...Now I wanna, go set up the Trampoline...
StukaFoxsays...They're skinny because they're very young, probably no more than six months. Red Foxes are sort of gangly at that stage.
Spoon_Gougesays...^They CAN contract mange and they CAN contract rabies. No evidence of that here.
Humans can also contract rabies...
10175says...Where do you have to live, geographically, to get foxes playing in your back yard?
I'm serious. I think I want to move there.

From what I can see between the Red fox and the Grey fox all of the US is covered (http://www.canids.org/species/index.htm). When I was a kid in Florida we had foxes that would visit my house on an orange grove but they disappeared as the area went from super-rural to sorta-rural. Today people that I know that live farther out away from the city still see them - so I think to have foxes in your back yard you just have to have some wilderness around.
biminimsays...We have them in the Blue Ridge Mtns of Virginia. See them on a semi-regular basis. The daughter of a friend got bitten by one about three years ago and had to go through the whole rabies shot regimen. They're cute, but they can be dangerous.
