Variable field magnetic motor

Move over oil and power companies.. you can't suppress this kind of stuff for much longer.

i really WANT to watch this video, truly i do. but i dated a paranoid schizofrenic electronic nerd for toooo long to watch anything with tesla in the tag. god damnit!... i still have to tell myself about twice a year that stargate isnt real.

as far as I know it's to do with harvesting some of that magnetic energy during breaking and converting it back to electricity which would improve efficiency in e-powered vehicles. an old idea basicaly. or am I looking at something different here? any useful links on this?

I'm guessing that the significant bit is when the array of electromagnets changes position. (After 10s, when the RPM really ramps up.) I'm guessing that the motor is changing the field to make it more efficient or powerful at high RPMs.

Sorry, but a few seconds of footage from the rear wheel of the Batcycle, with some japanese comments in the background, is no clue as to how this is going to replace "oil and power companies" as the OP's suggests. Can't upvote this without some context.

I don't think this is your typical electric motor... I think this is using magnets a la mag-lev train / super collider / rail-gun technology to spin the wheel. Unforunately the limiting technology for electric vehicles isn't in the motor, it's the battery. Ah well... but cool technology nevertheless if it is what I think it is. Can someone explain how the magnets moving out of the wheel seems to speed it up?

and yet you use Tesla's products every day now don't you?

I believe the patent is here: http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?WO=2008072372&IA=JP2007001377&DISPLAY=DOCS

Someone find some Englirh publications.

It could have to do with dynamic breaking, but that doesn't make sense, you want maximum field coupling for that energy transfer.

What I believe they are doing is the actuator pushes the windings further away from the rotor. What that does is reduce the coupling, and hence the back EMF. So I believe this is a way to get faster RPM then the 100% of a DC motor. So this is a way to make a DC motor with high torque at low RPM and then widen the RPM range by ??? to increase the top speed. It's really useful when you consider the lack of transmission on these solar cars.
