No, but a quiet smirk is usually appropriate.

This is one of those rare times that a song really feels like it is being sung for me, even though that is clearly all coincidence and ego. But seriously, I'm a 31-year-old atheist spending Christmas in the Southern hemisphere ~9,000 miles away from my beautiful blue-eyed infant daughter. That's a lot of coincidences in one song.

You don't have to laugh at the "punch lines"

I agree, I love the song...I just think the laughter seems forced and it ruins the song. I think it's a touching song sprinkled with levity for balance, but the laughing seems to take me out of it.

And for something completely different, when did Minchin lose his eye shadow? Isn't he afraid he might start looking normal or something?

And lest anyone take that wrong, let me assure you I'm a big fan. White Wine in the Sun became my favorite Christmas song the very first time I heard it.

A couple of years ago, I spent a while obsessively looking up every Tim Minchin song I could find and pretty much loved them all. My husband and I sing to each other that, "I think you're special, but you fall within a bell curve."

Somehow, this is the first time I've heard this one. It made me tear up a little.
