The Copenhagen Wheel

Turns any bike into a hybrid for just 500 Bucks. WANT!

"To be honest, this is a dumb idea, seriously think about it for a second, this is obviously for very LAZY people. I'm better off with my regular bicycle where you actually exercise your legs."

"At last, cycling for lazy people "

"great idea, lets make physically active people lazy"

"Are we going to put motors on skateboard wheels too? Lazy!!"

etc etc etc etc

I'm curious what makes you think cyclist would hate on this?

What about the people who are unable to cycle constantly - through joints, injury, etc? This brilliant invention allows them to enjoy cycling again. They are able to cycle for a while, then rest a while. It is certainly not a "dumb idea." Feel free to use your conventional bike, but don't be so down on other forms of cycling, and clever innovation.

I apologize for my delay.

A key feature of every part of my bike is that I can repair just about any damage myself. This box of electronics just adds more parts prone to failure, not to mention the added weight (~5kg) or the attention it attracts, primarily from thieves.

And wireless connectivity? Hell no, I'm surrounded by bugs as it is.

(Still, anything that gets people to switch their cars for bikes is good in my book.)

Queue the hate from cyclists in 3...2...1...

I'm quoting what other people are saying in comments on other sites in reply to someone asking me why I think cyclists would "hate on" this device.

They are not my own opinion.

No apologies necessary!

I think that's a reasonable argument to not want one of these on your bike. I'm just very against the "That's not a bike, THIS is a bike!" mentality.

Then be quiet, quoting others opinions, shows you have no original opinion.

False

It's a "fact" that other people are posting these comments on other site. Not an "opinion".

I do have an opinion; that it's a good idea as I have stated previously in another post.

My other opinion is now that you feel stupid because you didn't recognize I was quoting other people and are now trying to overcompensate by being defensive.

If you're going to get this upset when you make a mistake I suggest you either learn more humility or unsubscribe from the internet.

Have a good day

There's just something wrong about loading down a bicycle with electronics.
I'd like to see a resource budget for this comparing it to a regular bicycle (with manufacture and shipping of all the components, a lifetime of maintenance, and the juice powering the iphone all included).
